uh as a Chinese who is not a citizen of Shanghai I would say this video is only a representation of inclusiveness of Shanghai(though I suspect this too. It is possible that gender noncomforming people are more likely to be chosen as interviewees) I don't think any of the other cities in China have the similar level of inclusiveness as Shanghai owing to the fact that Shanghai is the center of multiculturalism and globalization due to historical reasons. All other cities have conditions that is MUCH WORSER for queers, including Beijing. I lived in a relatively inclusive city compared to other parts of the country and I still cannot believe that the video was a interview target at all citizens(most of the intervewees are queer and/or with a noncomforming dressing). Many people believe any sexuality that differs from heterosexual "norms" is considered the result of trauma or confusion as a child. Though I (a female) experienced SA when I was around 6, it was not the result of me being bisexual. When I was in preschool (about 3 years old), the very first day of attending, we were assigned seats and I was placed next to a girl the same age as me with bright green eyes and freckles. I was ABSOLUTELY infatuated with her (yes, it was a crush). We didn't even communicate because we were so young. I'm pretty sure we never even talked once, we'd just look at each other and smile and that was literally it, but my heart would pound and I wanted to show her "affection" that I literally had no clue was even about. I didn't know what gay or straight was, I just knew I liked her more than I liked anyone else, even more than those who actually talked to me or were really nice to me. You could try to say it was "innocent admiration", but I know what that would have felt like, so no it was not. Fastforward 21 years, I'm with a beautiful Texan woman who loves me unconditionally and I love her the same. I never changed, I was never influenced, nor was my ultimate decision to marry a woman the result of trauma. I was actually BORN this way.

6:59 this is why most people turn into gay or lesbian, nobody was born with it.

you cant just outright state that nobody was born with it. whoever someone likes is natural to them. sure there will be people who are influenced by things like past experiences, but at the end of the day, it’s natural within most queer people that they just feel an attraction to that gender

It has NOTHING to do with majority of LGBTQ people. This is a confused straight boy trying to fit in in his social surroundings (a very gay dancers’ circle), which is fine, people get lost sometimes. I knew I was gay as far back as when I can remember things. It is as basic as eating and walking.
