The reason Docklands has a roof is because the stadium was built for Australian Rules Football - not for cricket. The reason cricket can be played on the same arena is due to Aussie Rules Football being created to keep cricket players fit in Summer. The game was designed to be played on the same oval shaped ground.

I am hooked on George! Only just discovered him and hopefully he covers all the Aussie/Pom test matches so I can tune in going forward. Very balanced and insightful observations.

He covers only England's matches

Apart from being such an obviously decent bloke (case in point with the guys working off camera) my favourite thing about George is that he accepts multiple things can be true at the same time. That's an infuriatingly rare quality these days.

Docklands isn’t a cricket ground as such, true. But they have played one dayers there. Point is, a roof can be installed over a cricket ground. There is no need for grass for an outfield as an artificial grass works in many other sports. The centre pitch can be a drop in one. Roof made partially retractable so sunlight hits the pitch before and during play, roof over for rain. New rule to see what happens if the ball hits the roof (4? 6? Deadball?) but when they played a one dayer there they got Gilchrist a few days earlier and pitched him some lollies to see if he could hit it and he couldn’t. Massive dollars involved in retro fitting roofs, but.

"Bazball hasn't worked, (implying that therefore it should be scrapped)". Nonsense. It has worked, every time Australia has been all at sea in this series has been as a result of not knowing how to deal with Bazball. Australia's approach this series has been "we're going to the opposite to what England are doing" instead of "we're going to do what we do, what made us world champions in the first place"

England have just been sloppy when it mattered, and arrived underprepared. And of course, Australia are actually good, arguably rather better on a baseline level.

We've played our way, which is to counter opposition utilising our team strengths effectively, you know, test cricket. The reason England were 1 - 2 down going to Manchester was because they were too stubborn to adjust 'Bazball' until they were already in a hole. Aggressive test cricket is nothing new, but it must be tempered with patience and resilience, too. England has been exciting at times this series, but when all is said & done, the urn is returning to Australia, and Stokes & Co have failed to do their job, which is to capture test cricket's greatest prize.

I don't think England have failed at all they have gotten closer to Australia playing this brand of cricket than they would have done trying to play as they did before and been bloody fun to watch while doing so long may it continue. Having said that I think they only have themselves to blame for any criticism they get due to their self indulgent "winning isn't the most important thing" shtick. Doesn't matter how many million times they say it, it's simply not true when you're operating at this level and it's understandably rubbed a lot of people the wrong way because they are effectively absolving themselves from responsibility for mistakes and it's outrageously arrogant. Somehow however they have managed to convince at least half of the fanbase that it's the exact opposite of arrogance that it's in fact some kind of evangelical journey of healing and growing and finding your true self. It's quite an extraordinary thing to observe. Whichever of Stokes or McCullum is the main driving force should seriously consider a career in politics.

Other than fielding changes, australia hasn’t done anything different. Bazball has won you one test match this HOME series, don’t forget that. I wouldn’t scrape it tho

I said it before the test - I was surprised England did not pick fresh legs in the bowling attack. That mistake may decide the result
