I've started studying with a pupil of E.Pujol (a very wise teacher) for five of years when I was 13 and then stopped for 10 years until now. I've decided to go back to the guitar and I must say that this video it's a drop of gold for someone used to work with a teacher!

Very good advices. Thank you. What personally helped me the most was 1. „get rid of the ego“. Do not try to be better than you are. 2. have fun. Choose pieces you like and play together with friends 3. I had a very hard time to memorize pieces. Then I learned Chinese. After that my memory improved dramatically. Now I nearly need no music sheets anymore 🤓😋🥰. Of course there are many more tricks and hints, but this 3 points helped me personally the most.

Good video! I do all of those things when self coaching but I am a poor substitute teacher. We all need fresh input now and then. Good coaches can inspire whole new chapters in self discovery. good coaches give you the tools to make the self analysis accurate and productive.

Perhaps the best point here is to be honest with yourself; it may be the hardest thing to do--although one's honesty should never be so severe that one gives up.

Very good advices and tips, thank you! Will definitely try them out! Another tip, although a little obvious, is to practice as many consecutive days as possible. I think this is more important than practicing for long periods in the same day.

I don't play classical guitar but the finger exercises and manner of playing are similar in the ukulele. :) My teacher helped me correct my bad playing habits (wrong position of the wrist and even the arm when playing, wrist and fingers are not relaxed, etc.). Getting feedback from a teacher also helped me improve quite quickly in playing the ukulele. :)

I only say there are master guitarists selfmade and from educational schools. It depends only people how good you can be. In the end everything must learn byself.

I practise by myself for a couples of years, on march I started to have lessons with a pupil of maestro Abel Carlevaro, I practically started to learning from the basics(since how to hold the guitar) but I'm improving very fast right now. I would say only after you have very good bases you can study by yourself

I’m going slowly but steadily going through:1)Christopher Parkening’s 2 book/CD set, 2)an “accelerator” course I bought on Udemy for $12.00, Tonebase’s level system 3)and the Mel Bay 8 level sight reading book/CD/DVD system. I use to teach guitar but The teacher suggestion was well taken. Maybe I need to check in with a teacher once every 3 or 4 months to see if I need correction in certain areas. I wonder if Mrs. Tatyana would be open to some “once every 3 or 4 months” lessons?

A teacher can help you with the technique of your hands, when we are studying alone, we can't see our bad work and we play making stranger things with our hands and that will be a problem in the future.

You need to learn how to listen with intent. Study the sound, notes, pitches, phrasing and expression. Watch video from great players like Tatyana. What is often missing is the blocking of how you make shifts from one position to the next and use your natural anatomy to set up the next phrase. It may involve a finger shift that is not intuitive and may seem clumsy and wrong at first. Segovia always chewed out students in his Master Class who changed the fingerings on his arrangements asking them why they did it that way then he shows them the reason why he fingered it that way... in an irritated and gruff fashion. Much like choreographing a dance or play the fingerings need to be planned ahead to assure the next phrase can be performed with out fumbling for a fingering.

When you start to learn a piece how to be sure that the piece is not too difficult for you? If you have a bad choice picking up a piece, you can waste your time and ruin your motivation. But if you choose an easy piece you can get bored presently.

Your post seems to imply that music is good or bad depending on how difficult it is to play. I've never found that to be true at all. I really do believe that there is music that is relatively easy to play, but is quite lovely..

@@guitarista666 sorry you misunderstood my point. Sometimes you choose a piece that you are not able to play well, despite all the workout you may do. This leads you to a waste of time and disappointment.
