EDGAR: Hi! I’m Edgar and I’m 16 years old and vaccinated.
KATIE: I’m Katie, I’m 13 years old, and I’m also vaccinated.
QUINN: Hi, I’m Quinn, I’m 15 years old and I’m vaccinated too!
JOSYA: Hi! I’m Josya, I’m 15 years old and I got my Covid-19 vaccine.
EDGAR: We want to let you all know why you should be vaccinated too!
QUINN: Because I have a disability, I wanted to get vaccinated.
KATIE: I was one of the first one of my friends to get vaccinated, and because I did, my friends felt better about getting the vaccine.
EDGAR: My doctor told me the vaccine was safe and it was safe for me so even though I was nervous, I went ahead and got the vaccine.
KATIE: I also got vaccinated because I lost family to Covid, and I don’t want to lose anyone else.
JOSYA: As masking rules change, getting vaccinated helps protect me and everyone around me.
EDGAR: I want to keep myself safe.
QUINN: If I have Covid, I can get more sick than my friends who don’t have disabilities.
JOSYA: Now that kids like us can get vaccinated, it’s a great time to talk to our parents, grandparents, or whoever takes care of us, and ask to get vaccinated.
KATIE: My parents agreed that getting the vaccine was the best way to stay as safe as possible. I also wear my mask, but I wanted all the protection I could get!
JOSYA: Even if your parents or guardians don’t want to get vaccinated, you can still ask them about getting vaccinated yourself.
EDGAR: You need permission for the vaccine. If you want to get vaccinated, you have to ask your parents or guardian.
JOSYA: You could ask like this, “Hey mom, I want to get the Covid vaccine, can we make an appointment?”
KATIE: Or “Hey! I think I want to get vaccinated, can we talk about it together?”
EDGAR: If your parents have questions they can talk to your doctor, contact other parents, or do research.
JOSYA: Even though there’s still a risk, I feel better now that I have the vaccine. I talked to my mom about the vaccine and why I wanted to get it. I wanted to be protected from Covid.
QUINN: Since getting vaccinated, I feel safer doing the things I want to do, like hanging out with my friends, and my running club!
JOSYA: We are still learning how Covid will affect people my age, but we do know that it can be more serious for all people with disabilities, and that vaccination can keep us safer. So get vaccinated!
