Thank you for reading my question. I am sorry I was not clear enough in my first question. The Twitter word limit compelled me to frame the question in a very stupid manner. I loved the film and the ending. I do not think that Quentin Tarantino is washed up actor or a director. He is a very talented writer and director. What I meant in the first question is that Quentin was looking back at himself as a rockstar director and how his legacy from a video store clerk to a cinema auteur is fading away, as people are no more going to theatres to watch movies and everything is going on streaming.

Interstellar delivered what it promised imo. Half of our general Indian audience found out about Nolan through interstellar. It didn't rely on the directors Calibre or image as much as Once upon Hollywood did.And also I wonder what would people say about OutiH if they didn't know Tarantino directed it. I felt this film is okay. Not bad, not great .

Interstellar was repetitive so that you get the story in your first watch. Btw it was a big budget movie and hence was targeted towards a larger audience.

In the movie, Sharon Tate represents the vigour of new era. In almost every scene, she shone like a diamond, full of life, going to the cinema to gauge audience response to her role, just living life on her terms. She doesn't have to be a chatterbox. Her screen presence is enough to convey her vivacious vibe. Rick Dalton embodies the end of an era. Always smoking, coughing non stop, bitter, depressed with bundles of self pity. Sharon inviting him home is supposed to be the fairy tale ending as opposed to brutal killing of Sharon in real life. Thus the film title, Once Upon A Time..... It is QT's fairytale love letter to a bygone Hollywood era. Radical feminist can't seem to enjoy anything because they approach art with a rigid checklist. Instead of immersing in the director's storytelling, they are busy judging the movie with the said checklist. I loved Tarantino's response to a journo asking why Sharon talked less and smiled more. He said "I reject your hypothesis"😁

Tarrantino played it safe but he wanted to make something done different . Now, I believe we really have to revisit this film after some years and wait for whether the films holds up or not . This dilemma is similar to the coen brother's "a serious man" it was panned by the critics and the public at large when it was released but now, the conscious has changed and it is bracketed under the better films of corn brother's.

Regarding the question about filmmakers in india making alternative history movies, I think Hey Ram comes closer to that genre though the climax of the movie doesn't really alter the History. But Kamal has beautiful blended fiction with facts by placing Saketh Ram in the time period between Bengal riots and assasination of MK Gandhi.

This movie had the real life Mason murders as the backdrop. I absolutely loved how QT mocked and ridiculed the Mason cult members thereby diminishing their fearsome reputation. What better way to smack down evil humans than ridiculing them. The climax was a riot. From DiCaprio taking a swing from blender full of iced margarita while chasing the cult members away to the sardonic interaction between intruders and Brad Pitt. Tex, in real life uttered those lines during the horrific murder of Sharon Tate and friends. I'm the devil, yada yada yada. To which Brad simply said "Nah it was dumber than that, uh Rex? " 😂 Loved how casually QT spat on real life killers. The BGM throughout climax WAS ON POINT. The final intruder killed by DiCaprio using flamethrower is just poetic in many ways.

The censor cuts in this movie was absurd. I counted more than 32 audio cuts. Even the word "cock" was muted in a "A" rated film. Also noticed few visual cuts when Leo meets Timothy on the set of Lancer. See, this is not the first time a movie has been butchered by the CBFC. I've made peace with it. But this is the first I'm actually seeing articles on the web declaring - OUATIH cleared without cuts. That's a blatant lie. I get it that you like direction and flow of it and all. I get it and I feel it too but it was like never ending. Here and there I felt okay but even when he walks, even when he opens doors, it's very very slow it's like slow motion, not even reality. Which is very big drawback. Had it been like they made the film till the sharon Tate character dies in a gruesome manner (as in history)with the tarantinoish making,i would have got the complete cinematic orgasm.But the film goes in a pure happy ending way which is completely unexpected and out of style from a maker like him.It didn't create any goosebumps at any moments.Hope it won't continue in his last venture

No questions on the endless references to Italian westerns and American western? I swear there was 20 mins of just watching the TV footage inside the film. Also regarding Bruce Lee, it’s apparently a fantasy/flashback of Cliff but it wasn’t shown that it was a flashback till the end of the sequence. Felt almost like a justification for making fun of Bruce Lee than an actual organic thing in the screenplay. Also Cliff isn’t a saint. He apparently killed his wife, hyper masculine and also is a racist. But the film glorifies him a lot by showing how “better” he is where he takes down the manson cult members and refuses intimacy with an underage girl (clear reference to polanski) no other reason for the scene to be in there. There were many scenes like this, that were just there as meta references, rather than part of the story. Still overall liked the film (every scene with Rick is just amazing) though tate’s scenes were boring af, but still underwhelming to my expectations.

I liked The Hateful 8 much better. Being a Tarantino fan, I didn't like this movie. May be because I didn't know about the history of Sharon Tate and 60s Hollywood. It had some tense moments but a very lengthy movie

The signal to dog is unnecessary. It's a known thing to everyone.😂 Everyone understands it even if the trailer scene is not there . We have many that kind of things which is not necessary and he is just orgasming for his creativity but it's obvious for the viewer, Chalo I get it . Move on types. Between I'm the big QT fan. Even Inglorious or Django or Hateful right has slow sequences but they are interesting, they tell you or make you feel something new, where as here it is just happening like a docu drama.

I understand they should establish their bonding, but their intro feels like some fucking 10 minutes, which is not needed in my opinion. The scene in the trailer is important, with respect to the establishment of bond between him and dog but it's not something very exciting momentarily. A person signalling his dog to do something doesn't need a history of back story is what I meant. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I like some very meaningful scenes like leo and child scene, Brad fixing the antenna one,Brad going to ranch, Sharon watching her own movie in theatre,etc there is some kind of storytelling happening in those scenes which is okay even if they are dragged.

He always establishes everything very hard even if it's not necessary & it works like a charm. I watched all his movies only once but still, I'll take each & every one of them to my grave. Such is his impact. If you want to talk about redundancy, the complete shooting sequence of Leo & that kid was unnecessary but QT did it just to establish that he's a great actor. Now when he's heading into their home, the director askes him if he'd like to act for his movie & genuinely felt happy and satisfied. The impact would've been less if he did the acting scene in 5 minutes. He took 20 & gave us an iconic scene.

I very much understand what Tarantino does in the field of detailing and the pay off it delivers. No fucking doubt about it. He always drags that extra bit and make you feel wow. Like some examples like the bar scene in Inglorious or Superman discussion in Kill bill 2 etc. They either have instant pay off or either interesting by creating suspense,comedy or some kind of a connection. Whereas with most of scenes in Hollywood its more like he want us to live there with the characters and feel them, I get it and the pay off is way far that you actually forget some of the details, and also the teaser trailers are a huge curse to the film. They showed something very pacy, exciting,edgy and didn't deliver it. I feel it's an okay film not as great as his previous endeavors. You might love it a lot for some other reasons but I was a little disappointed as it didn't reach my expectations. I was in full kick after the end of the film because of that amazing climax but after a week it left me which was unusual for a Tarantino film. His films are not about the first weekend thing they are much more than that and Hollywood is not that for me.

Agree with BR regarding the censoring. It just made no sense and it was very silly. Censoring cigarettes and beer cans was annoying to watch!! The script required it, the character was required to do it so what is the damn problem? Also, in the theater where I watched, "asshole" was censored but "fuck" was not. I mean, if thats not a face palm moment, I really don't know what is... either censor everything or censor nothing!!!🤦🙄

I liked Reservoir dogs, Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, for some extent inglorious bastards! Kill Bill 1 and 2 is like a vijayashanti movie! Lot of logic missing movie! THE BRIDE carries Hattori Hanzo sword in a flight from Okinawa to Mexico! to Kill Bill! Is it possible! Security at airport so lethargic! Personally I felt Alexander Payne, Martin Scorsese, Roman Polanski better then this Tarantino! Polanskis The Pianist was too good Adrien Brody licking the jam scene have any one felt how he felt when a Nazi soldier gives him a loaf of bread and yummy jam! Movies like Office space! directed by Mike judge it's simple, real IT corporate culture! Peter Gibbons! I was like him! Office I hated like him. Some days I came in between to my house without informing my boss.
