When I first heard this new song from AA when I was 15 y.o. I thought I had a grasp on it. As I age I have noticed a tendency to die inside every time I hear this song, yet it fills me with great hope at the same time. This song opens the gate to reminiscing on all the childhood friends and family I have lost to od, suicide, murder and other traumas so I may somewhat repair the damage that has been done yet will never get over. Anyone who tells you to just "get over it" is either hiding extreme trauma or has yet to experience it, there is no in-between with people who address grief in such a harsh manner.

Not a single one of you understand this kind of music. You have to understand that he was 17-18 when he made this song. He's been though a lot in his life, and he writes these lyrics as a form of relief. And he writes them in a way where anybody, adults and kids included, can relate. He's doing no harm to you people who decide to criticize this music, by writing about how he feels. He's doing more right now than any of you criticizers will ever do in your entire life. He's saved a lot of people with depression or anger, or however you want to take these lyrics as. You've done nothing to help with mankind. Go somewhere else with your opinion where it actually makes sense. Thank you.

How stubborn are the scars when they won't fade away? Or just a gentle reminder that now are better days? We'll be home soon, so dry your eyes, You'll be okay (you'll be okay!) Oh my God! The water is rising! It's rising! You just have to believe in me! Failing that I'll ride this storm alone! We can still make it out, 'Fuck' I can help you through this, But you have to take my hand! I can take you home, Take my hand, Take my hand! I should've known the tides were getting higher. We can still survive. They think we're drowning but our heads are still above the waves, Above the waves. (I should've known the tides were getting higher) (We can still survive) (Above the waves) (I should've known the tides were getting higher) (I should've known the tides were getting higher) We can still survive! What a time to be 14 years old & pulling inspiration from bands such as AA. This album changed my life. There’s something in the power of music that comes from a real place. When music can express what you have trouble putting into words. It makes you want to learn how you can change others lives through music as well. The level of musicianship of old scene bands is phenomenal. From the lyricism, the message & how it’s delivered, to the fact that these bands made a whole new sound to express their art. Asking Alexandria has always received the most shit from gatekeeping bitter people who lack the ability to see the pure genius in their debut album. Those guys were fucking kids in 2009. They became voices of hope and inspiration for so many fucked up kids just like me. The level of community within the scene group back then is something I miss. Definitely the most underrated & genuine movements in modern rock and roll history, the atmosphere reminded me of the communal vibe of 90’s Seattle. Fans felt included because they actually were included. Amazing bands who supported their fan base because they actually understood music is life-inspiring. It had the potential to save kids from leaving this place who were just like them. What I wouldn’t do to be at warped tour in 2013 again. Meeting these guys back then at shows was commonplace because they never thought they were too good for others.

If you truly love aa you'd like whatever they put out. If not listen to their old albums. Danny is a human dealing with post alchohol addiction and for some reason it won't get through your thick skulls. He also just joined back into the band so it's a nice welcome back from what he was doing. Be happy with what you get because he could be doing vocals like he is with his new project. They're still great and talented musicians and you act like they don't play their old songs. Grow up already because they have.
@IconicMicrowave5 жыл бұрын
@@blakedurston They've been going in a more hard rock and metal direction since Reckless. Just compare this album to Reckless. Way less emo. Everyone knew it was coming.
