asking Alexandria fan You're not wrong. That rhythm has been around for a while now. Attack Attack used it in What Happens If I Cant Check..., Chiodos used it in Theres No Penguins In Alaska, also this one band called A Vain Attempt used it in their song Red Bloody Roses. The oldest use of that rhythm as far as I know is when Judas Priest used it in the beginning of Breaking The Law. It doesnt exactly sound like Knives and Pens, but you can definitely hear the similarities.
