Feels so weird that people can get out of HS in the US and not know propaganda. War isn't very complex - the tactics generally aren't new, the tech is new but the goal of a war is to win it on as many fronts as possible. I keep saying this to folks, I'll say it here: The attacker in any conflict sets the terms of the war. If you search any source on the Hamas Israel conflict you will find this weird oxymoron : Hamas previous to 10/7 had a peaceful relationship with Israel limiting the launching of skud and other missiles into Israel. This is an example of spin; if the US sporadically launched missiles into Mexico would that be a mostly peaceful relationship? Up to 10/7 Hamas had been in open conflict with Israel but Israel had been ignoring this as a humanitarian / cultural issue. The US does this with Iran as well, more US Soldiers have been killed and maimed by Iranian's than from Iraqi's or Afghani's. But despite Iran pledging to kill American's and non-Shia and "Westerner's" by in large, America doesn't declare war. My position in 2 parts: On 10/7 Hamas set the terms for war which was open slaughter, Israel should have ended the war in 5 days with returned open slaughter. Open slaughter means exactly that Hamas invaded Israel and harmed men, women, children regardless of them being civilians or not; they harmed whoever they could get there hands on... Israel has bigger hands. Protracting this war has changed the terrain to one of ideas which was needless and a blunder on war making by Israel. I concluded this is a blunder because it's not the first time and this terrain is familiar and favorable with Hamas. As an American we should also be involved not for the sake of Israel but to teach a very valuable lesson for friends and foes around the world; there are consequences attached to bringing harm to a US citizen traveling abroad. This will devalue the taking of US hostages and hopefully also the bringing of harm to American's who travel.
