I was the same way, still learning this now in my 30s 40s. The system is like a bizarre video game where it's all about playing and not about looking after yourself or finances.

Important question, what do property investors actually contribute to the economy? Does sitting on appreciating assets that continue to increase their net wealth (very little of which actually gets spent in the economy), provide any overall good?

Worse still, the money that supports increasing property prices (mortgages) is sourced through private banks, essentially, printing new money for banks loans; financial gains from property can very much be fictitious, and this is dangerous when this happens at scale (2008 GFC).

This is shocking 😲 how do people not know how banks make money? Interest on top if your home mortgage and other loans is just one way! Overdraft fees, account fees etc!

Hi Sam, I’m trying to secure a vanilla buy to let in Burnley (and other cheap areas) but every house seems to get stupidly high bids on it with so many people viewing also, starting to get demoralised that I’ll never get a house for a decent price? Any advice

We have a need for people who know a lot about different subjects. At cambridge we find some of the most brilliant minds in mathematics who contribute to our understanding in everything from physics, to molecular biology, to economy. The «basics» of economy isn’t the thing they are supposed to learn, especially when economy basics only relate to mortages and the finance industry

Just because they are studying at Cambridge doesn't make them the most intelligent. Some of them just get in because of their wealth, their parents, ancestors went their etc. Sure some of them probably have good grades to get in but it's not the ultimate university.

That is complete nonsense, lol. You are repeating talking points you have heard about about certain US college admissions and trying to apply them to the UK. Nobody gets into Cambridge because of their wealth, parents or ancestors having gone there.
