The dude who doesn’t like waking up early - I so agree with you. Like I am on vacation from work - I do not want to wake up before 10am - like wtf. Even if I don’t party, I would still like to sleep in on my vacation in the islands. Sure if I am in Rome and doing cultural and educational things, but going to the beach or whatnot, I would almost prefer a land beach vacay where we do not leave at 3pm. Let us get our beauty sleep - waking up is stressful.

Honestly I cruised the MSC Davina as a vegetarian and I thought the buffet was fantastic. Main dining was mehhh but the buffet literally had everything. The only food that was truly terrible was on Ocean Cay but I’ve heard the food truck that costs extra is very good & I still enjoyed myself. For what you pay to go on MSC compared to other lines in the US you can easily afford the speciality dining if that’s more your speed. I think most people would be more than happy with the food at the buffet! I found Tabasco and Cholula all over the buffet and didn’t have any issues with seasoning aside from a pasta I didn’t like in main dining - but they easily will replace it with another dish so no issues for me! I must have expensive taste when it comes to the drink package though - all the drinks I like on MSC are the $9/10 dollar ones that are only included with the $70 a day drink package, and 2-3 drinks a day is more than plenty for me, so the drink package doesn’t work out for me! I do wish the staff would come around by the pool and on the private island to serve drinks instead of me always having to walk to the bar, but you get what you pay for I guess, so I can’t complain! The yacht club looks amazing - I really especially would love to try the yacht club on the private island. Looks so fancy & beautiful. I think sometimes 1%-ers don’t know how good they have it 😅

As a vegetarian from the USA, I’m used to not having anything to eat anywhere, so anytime vegetarian protein / hot lunch is an option and they don’t hand me a plate of plain lettuce for every meal I’m happy lol. Only place I really had nothing to eat was on the private island; I enjoyed how relaxing it was there but in I’d always eat a big breakfast first and have a few rock lobsters on the ship to fill up with the banana calories to hold me over on Ocean Cay ;)

Hey J. Love the interviews to get candid, unscripted comments. I do agree with you somewhat on variety (cruise lines). You make the point that some, myself included, stick to one cruise line. It does have advantages to do that. The perks are worth it. When it comes to variety, what are the advantages? Royal for instance, has multiple types of ships, go to and from multiple ports. What is there to see on the other lines? If it is ship and service, it will vary based on the ship even in the same cruise line. Bottom line, if you stick to one cruise line, you really aren't missing that much. My opinion! 😜

Just off a MSC cruise ending November 2022 and first and last cruise with MSC. Unless I can get a cruise for $10 a day no more. I was also Divina back to back. This year four cruises so this is not something I have never done. You get what you pay for.

We did the Lyrica in 2008 and it would take a lot for us to ever take an MSC cruise again. Service was terrible and we felt like lower class citizens compared to the Italian passengers and the food was bad. Looks like it's getting better but not quite there yet.

Jay great video but this is what makes the world go round because I think that MSC has the best entertainment in the theater of all the cruise lines. Carnival has some nice people but they are also the loudest and uncivilized of all the major cruise lines. That in my opinion and I’ve been on over 60 cruises on most lines.

Just came off of 7 day cruise with msc seascape. This was my first cruise ever, and even though we had issues on this cruise, I’m not turned off from cruising, just not to cruise with msc! I don’t regret the trip, but the crowdedness with eating at the buffet is ridiculous, you have to go at certain times in order to avoid the the crowds, and it got so bad there wasn’t places to sit to eat. Over time the food seem to get better, we ate at the main dining hall for the majority of the cruise, sometimes the food was not hot! If you didn’t purchase a drink package, you’ll get watered down drinks, like lemonade, and other juice drinks, was nasty, except for the end of the cruise they had orange juice, and cranberry juice available. It wasn’t a relaxing trip, some people were rude, some people have no manners! Didn’t experience racism, ran into a lot of friendly people of other nationalities! Staff was very friendly, and helpful, except for guest services! Getting charged for things you never ordered or registered for! The beds were hard, the only comfortable thing about the beds were the pillows and comforters. The wait for an elevator was ridiculous, and they were dirty! The ship had smells to it in certain areas, especially the buffet was smelly on a certain side, and the public bathrooms. Drinks, food, and trash was left by the elevators, on the floors near cabins. The cleanliness, and sanitation of the ship just didn’t seem like a priority. Not much service for disabled people. I’m not downing the cruise line, but giving an honest review.

Pretty much when it comes to MSC bring your own seasonings but everything else is all right they're trying to break into the American market and they got to realize American taste are a lot different than European taste when it comes to food and seasonings and spices

Hey Jay, thank you for doing this "New Theme ... Q&A" from passengers onboard the various Cruise Lines (Carnival Celebration and now MSC Seascape). Other Cruise KZbinrs have done similar and negative on MSC Seascape is that the food is bland, entertainment is poor and because so many non-English speaking passengers they speak in 2 languages during the Theater shows and it takes forever.

MSC got Italian cooking tradition. Italian food is not seasoned enough for the us american taste, but is super for the European palate. If you go to Italy, the food will have only salt, pepper, olive oil, lemon and some fresh herbs, - that's it. No mayo or tabasco everywhere ;)

We just sailed the Norwegian Dawn and we had the same complaint about the food. NO SEASONING. If you bill something as Mexican, when I close my eyes, I should be able to distinguish a certain flavor profile. NOPE. BLAND BLAND BLAND. So many other problems on that ship as well.

Shame the last couple were not more specific about any problems as we have done two YC cruises and loved them, no way can it be compared with a balcony on Royal.

We (the last couple) did mention food and entertainment. Both were subpar (with the exception of Nina SKYY who we loved). YC food and service was really bad to the point where we could not finish any meals we had and we are not picky eaters ;) at all. Service in YC did not exist: consierge was terrible, could not help us with simplest requests we had. As an example, while one consierge was struggling answering questions at the consierge desk, two officers from YC was standing there talking with each other. When we very politely asked to speak with the officer in charge, he basically ran away... The only positive thing from YC experience was our Butler, but this is not worth paying for in our humble opinion.

The entertainment on MSC is a bit different but we don’t do main theatre shows on any cruise it’s not really a problem for us but we were on Seashore last month and the service was superb, especially the front desk.

Sounds like the new MSC ship has a Senior Crew that came from a cargo ship that knows how to be good crewmen good seamanship good Captain but not the diplomatic side of operating a cruise ship see the captain also has to be somewhat of a diplomat if you're a captain on a cruise ship cuz you have to deal with the public too unlike a freighter you just have to deal with your own crew and whatever Port you come in and pilots and customs and stuff like that

If by not everybody's cup of tea, they mean honest, good and BSD both, then that is what I like. I could point out, not everyone wants a party boat cruise. The quiet, maybe even formal, you could swing a tether ball and not hit anyone under 50 crowd is the type of cruise someone wants. There are small ships that serve that crowd. Maybe quiet book reading time, dinners and classical music performances are the idea of a perfect cruise with docking in the heart of s city to do tours is the dream come true. They exist. Family adventure with all the bells and whistles for the kids and teens, adult shows and drinks while the kids have an overnight adventure and sleep away is what they need. You show that. Then Virgin for no kids cruises for those under 50 are the the thing and that you have shown. I don't think you are ready for Cunard line but those who want and can afford nothing but the very best in life, well one day you will review it as well. 😅 But I trust you never to be anything but fair and honest. If you had a bad experience and you reach out to them, then it behooves them to reach out and figure out with your input how to win you back on board and make up for anything that was not up to par. I know that would be a strong factor in giving a cruise line another chance. Somrtimes things happen and we may not ever know why maybe beyond anyone's control. The effort to reach out shows that they care. A few freebies can help. Being pampered above and beyond merely what you pay for is a great apology. Shoes character among management. Your honest take does really help. The biggest issue is among 1st timers not asking questions they didn't know to ask. You help us think of what things to ask. Of the cruise line. I’ve done 8 cruises and got sick on the second one only. I now wear seabands” on both wrist as long as the ship is moving And on the tender boats at ports. Never had a problem again.

I’ve been on MSC once (Divina) and it was terrible. The price was amazing and that was it. Terrible food, weird shows, rude crew, everything is late, and nothing to do. Hard pass.

Your four sentences perfectly reflects our experience (and now I think we are being too polite in this video). As we look back almost a month later, this, quite unfortunately, was our least favorable cruise. Almost made us want to try Carnival. Almost...

@@alex_irina you were very diplomatic in your review. MSC is the only cruise that my husband has ever complained about. They didn’t help themselves when the attendant barged in our room at 6am to take inventory on the mini bar we never used. Even if we would have used it, they had our credit card to pay for any items. You were in the yacht club, I would hope that the service would have been spectacular but it did not seem as so with your assessment. I do appreciate the feedback as it helps us to keep our resound from returning. Happy future cruising!

@@danniedanielle8157 Thank you kindly! We want to think that we are (reasonably) positive cruisers in general. And yet we caught an unexpected set of waves of "feedback" on CruiseCritic where we essentially shared what we are discussing in this thread (sorry, J for hijacking. Again! :) Our verdict nevertheless is still the same: MSC is just not for us. Even at Yacht Club MSC just did not have anything running right. So what we have learned is that MSC is competing with Carnival. Good for them! Lets see if we can get on the Celebrity Beyond with J in April. Swear, not a plug!
