very true on what the last guy said -from a UM first-year. I think taking APs and doing extracurriculars (that you love, not just random ones so that it looks good) prepares you academically and forces you to manage your time. if you do that, then I think college should be manageable (it also depends on your major) and you’ll be able to do it! :)

I applied to UM for Fall 2022 EA and got deferred to RD. Then I got waitlisted in March. It was my dream school, so this really crushed me. For reference: 1470 SAT Predicted over 40/45 for my IB Diploma My CommonApp essay was pretty good (I think). I'm a decent writer. I think I mostly lacked in extra curriculars. My school doesn't have many. Not much student government or important clubs, and no 'varsity'/proper sports teams. I did my best, considering: I was in Student Council from middle school to early HS, and in junior/senior year I was a Deputy Head Student in the senior student gov. Also did soccer, unihockey, and volleyball. I don't know exactly why I didn't get in, and it still hurts a bit, but I feel better now. I got accepted to FSU and with more research, I've become very excited to attend! Who knows, maybe FSU is the place for me! For anyone reading this, know that if you don't get into your dream university, it's not the end of the world. You'll find a place that suits you, perhaps even better than where you thought you were meant to go. Wish you all the best :)

Just got accepted into the architecture school. Didn’t send in test scores, but I got a 1350 on the SAT and a 28 ACT. 3.79 unweighted GPA, 4.93 weighted. Only took 2.5 APs(dropped English Comp after a semester), but I got mostly As each semester for them. I’ve taken 12 dual enrollment courses since the summer after my freshman year, and I was enrolled in 5 when I submitted my application. I did a summer program with UM the summer before my senior year, but that doesn’t guarantee acceptance, as some other people that participated in the program didn’t get into the school. For extracurriculars, I was in marching band sophomore year and junior year (with a leadership position junior year), National Honor Society junior and senior year (with a leadership position senior year), and I had a part time job junior year and senior year. Finally, my personal essay was about why I loved setting up Christmas decorations. Good luck to anyone applying!

Can I know your IB score please?
@mica13682 жыл бұрын
Def do research before applying about what credits transfer over- I took a ton of AP and IB courses and not many transfer over depending on score and class. So if starting “ahead “ matters I’d take that into consideration but I absolutely love going to school here. Culture/people/ location/classes are awesome :) P.s- if ur applying in this new round be VERY careful with housing we are super limited at the moment for all students esp new incoming freshmen

Hiii, I have an Italian diploma + 2 years of economics at italian university that I'm thinking of dropping out of. What are the odds of getting accepted and maybe get some kind of scholarship for marine biology at uni miami? My high school gpa is 4.00 but I've never done extracurricular activities... I plan on working/volunteer for 6 months to a year in some wildlife rescue or zoo in Miami and apply for next year.. Is that delusional? 🥺🤠🤪

A ranking in US News doesn't "make" any school a top university. It's just the opinion of a single publication based on flawed criteria.

I went to university of Miami and graduated. My experience was aight . The campus was real nice but a lot of the students aren’t . If u don’t got tons of money to club every Thursday, FRI, Saturday u might feel left out . I’ve been to 5 different schools and had 7 different jobs . Definitely my least favorite place I been too. A lot of the guys imo where kinda rude / cocky. A lot of cool people don’t get me wrong tho. I’d choice another college if I could do it again

I went and graduated U Miami .only speaking from my experience by I hated that school . I’ve been to multiple colleges / school and had tons of different jobs . U Miami was by far the worst environment I had ever been in. Bunch of rich kids from up north . Kids where mean and cocky . Go somewhere else trust me . Hopefully someone sees this and saves 300,000$ from going there . Although there were some cool people but over the student body was full of punks and cocky kids compared to other environments I had been in. If I had to do college again I wouldn’t even consider university of Miami
