The #1 trick is to live in NC. It’s about the same to get into Duke , as an out of state applicant, if your SAT & GPA and activities are top notch.

I’m applying to UNC out of state. I have a 4.8 GPA and a 1400 SAT. What do you think my chances are?
@sassynchicago Жыл бұрын
I don’t know the rhyme or reason they use for out of state- it seems even if your scores are extremely high with rigor transcript and 4.5+ GPA -you still get denied as only 16% are selected as state requires 82% in state. And there are a lot of Athletes in out of state %. Also out of state tuition is 5x’s higher at 35k (7k in-state) My son loved it down his list, put will still submit an application-early Oct 15th to see if he has a chance. He has over a 1500 SAT & 5.1 GPA. but we are not expecting him to be accepted.

Not sure if you're aware, but since Duke is a private school, it doesn't matter where the residence is. I live in NC and got rejected from Duke.
@sassynchicago8 ай бұрын
@@thatbasicgirl5707 Duke is a different story, in/out of state doesn’t matter. It’s a 6% acceptance so reach for all. I was referring to UNC in state.

Well Low and Behold.. son was declined by UNC as expected. He has been accepted by 7 others so far. (Highly ranked Business schools) It’s a crap shoot with UNC, I don’t think he fall into an out of state category they needed to fill.

This is so refreshing. I see great schools with such prestigious and abnoxious kids with their accents and how they look and what they did. This seems like your laid back, academic school with people that are normal with not jaw dropping amazing stats that got them in for the majority.

Hi. I know I am very late here, but my last day was a 1260….😢 I still have one more left but so far I don’t plan on submitting to Carolina. I am instate and it is like right here. I grew up driving to Franklin street and hanging out w friends here after school like everyday. I LOVE this college and I have pretty much all As (but one B…) so far as a rising senior while taking a good amount of APs. I’ve got decent extracurricular and I am close to finishing my personal essay and am starting supplemental. Do I have a good shot? I am also getting a letter of rec from my teacher who is a former Carolina student
