It was called LORSTA Searchlight. Short for LORAN STATION, because its close to Searchlight ,NV. I tried to get station there because I'm from Vegas. I'm A retired Coastie. There was a doctor from Vegas who had a place out there near all the mines. He had claims and was systematically testing the area. We toured his facility with the GSSN in the early 90s. He did his own assays and showed us the process. I have been there in that area since then. PS... I have met and talked with you Jeff several times.

LORAN C and LORAC were geopositional technologies to identify stationary or moving locations from satellite tech. Since the earth is more egg shaped than spherical, rather than using rectangular grids to locate position locations, it used curved hyperbolic grids for location; a superior way to ID positions anywhere on the planet. Big in the oil business to locate wells, rigs or data collection systems on land and sea. I am surprised you don't notice one of the biggest oddities of that building. Those huge trees even though water has been long cut off are still completely healthy and green even though it is in the middle of a baking desert. Maybe this provides insight to something important about water behavior, especially in the desert which is a thing to know of great value.

Loran towers are north and west of fallon. It still is a naval station maybe it's closed now. Idk I was in battle mountain for a year and a half. One trip to Austin this is a true story and dang I was right there with my gold bug. My buddy swinging an old Garrett he took it across the header of collapsed cabin door it went off I'm ready to laugh and he reached up and pulled a sanfrancisco mint 50$ gold piece. Swear on my dad's grave I'd never seen one. We went to Austin he bought lunch. I was pissed. Them things are rare. I'd never believe it if I wasn't there

For people that are looting for scrap metal they didn’t do a very good job. There’s places in the desert where there’s a literal gold mine in scrap tin and iron all over. I can’t believe they left them engine blocks for them generators there. Those things could’ve brought at least $190 in tin, apiece. Disassembled and clean probably 290. Invest a little bit of money into them and rebuild them. 2000 dollars each. Parted out and sold on eBay. About $700. I would be there’s at least $5000 in iron minimum. Probably a lot more at that site. Too bad you couldn’t get a contract from the government to clean it up.

Loren is a guys name....Low-Ran was a VIP Navigational tool for Pilots and Ships....A and C were what I remember most, but others were graphed on charts....Ironic, that the DHMA (Defense Hydrographic Mapping Agency, or some such alphabet department was located, if I recall correct, in Clearfield, Utah.....and Loran Stations were up and down the West Coast of America from Ak to SanDiego at least......and most of those are probably now HARP facilities...(just a random thought..LOL)....Loran gave pretty fair accuracy on position for Ships, but, Ships Inertial Navigation System (SINS) Satellite's took over, with on spot location for Dummies (like me) to plot with. Useless info, but some trivia makes it fun.

The concrete rock structures... I believe there were three or four of them at some point... They were used for their signal towers tensioned guy wires..The tower was stationed in the middle of those rock structures.
