Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives during this disaster and with anyone who may have family or loved ones in the region.
FEMA is in close coordination with governments and communities after Hurricane Helene’s landfall Thursday as people begin to see the devastating effects of the storm.
FEMA personnel have been on the ground embedded with our state partners at the Emergency Operation Centers and are already working to determine the storm’s impact. We are gathering as much information as we can to have a complete picture of the extent of the damage and coordinate resource support and assistance.
Although it is now a tropical storm, people in Helene’s projected path should continue to heed the warnings of local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so as tornadoes and other hazards may still affect the area.
You can find more information and resources on how to stay safe before, during, and after the storm at Ready.gov or in Spanish at Listo.gov.
