When the Small Town WASH (ST WASH) Activity went to Asmau's school to teach them how to make reusable sanitary pads in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, not even the most optimistic person would think that that small gesture would cause a chain reaction that would forever change the experience of several young girls in the small town.
After learning how to make these cost-effective pads, Asmau began to teach other young girls in her small town, and now girls from neighboring small towns come to learn from her. Asmau's story is evidence of the benefit of educating women.
As the saying goes, "educate a woman, and you educated a whole village."
