Don't know how true it is, but I remember reading in the WoW forums that the original plan was supposed to be that Sylvannas kills Genn, then Liam and Tess become leaders of the Worgen. That changed after Blizzard noticed people on the forums were hyping up Genn a lot because he was the only remaining king from the original Alliance.

Liam could have had a story arc of learning the true weight of the crown of Gilneas and acted as semi-contemporary for Varian and an older brother for Anduin during Cataclysm. Alternatively, have Tess be the Gilneas liaison in Stormwind and have Liam stay in Teldrassil. Of course, this is assuming Blizzard had actually good writers for WoW, which we all know isn't the case (all we need to point to is Cataclysm-era green Jesus and the horribly-written goblin starter questline).

@@zaishijunior9455 Well, the thing is that the reason Thrall did that was because they wrote themselves into a corner by making the only competition to Galliwyx be the player character (and the player character can't be trade prince for obvious reasons). Galliwyx would have been executed if instead of the player being the next in line for Trade Prince it had been someone else. The player character should have been more like your average working joe, and the Trade Prince contender should have been someone like Sassy Hardwrench (really could be any named character). Set it up that the player character works for her but gets caught up in corporate warfare because Gally wants to stay in power. This could be used to introduce all the goblin lore bits and would also explain why the player is the one doing the errands/quests. Show that Gally and Sassy don't really care about you until you meet and gain Thrall's confidence, which is where there is a split. Gally wants to kill you (because he sees more competition), while Sassy instead decides to buddy up to you because she knows it would be to her advantage (and she's proven to be right since after killing Gally she becomes the Trade Prince).

The worgen that Archmage Arugal unleashed upon the Scourge came from the Emerald Dream. They were originally Night Elf druids who used thee forbidden wolf form and gave into the bloodlust and uncontrollable rage that came with it, as Goldrinn had warned them(but of course, we all know that Night Elves don't listen to their gods until it's too late). The only thing that could be done was for Malfurion to imprison them in a part of the Emerald Dream where they couldn't hurt anyone. But of course, at some point Archmage Arugal found a way to summon portals to the realm, despite not knowing what the hell he was doing, and that's how he unleashed the worgen onto the Scourge in Silverpine Forest and the fallen part of Gilneas(at the time).

Being fair to Alterac there kingdom was overrun on all sides and was at risk of collapse. Not to mention Stromguard and the other Kingdoms had actually been rivals for many years while the Orcs didn’t really do anything to bother Alterac and once they started peace talks the Orcs left them completely alone not asking for supplies or support of any kind. It actually was a pretty clever strategy until the Orcs lost one battle and completely collapsed.

i actually remember, now, a quest chain in Dragonblight (WotLK) wherein there was a minor backlash caused by one of the (i think a named Scarlet mob) NPCs committing suicide by jumping off a cliff. Worgen as a playable race came in the next expac, as did the "starter zone" questline wherein Godfrey takes the (meticulously ambiguous) dive.

In his Defence, the Worgen came from another World, and the only one who had at least a tiny bit of Intel about them was outside the Wall. So there was no way for the King to know about the Worgen Infection. So the mistake of letting the Injured Guards in, is understandable.

The Dumbest thing about all this is that we could have gotten Gilnean City back during Battle of Azeroth Expansion.. the Undercity, the seat of the Forsaken home and Sylvanas Rule is gone, uninhabitable. So there are no forces left to hold Gilnean. The undeath plague is basicly smoke that can be purge with dragon fire, they could have just ask Alexstraza to send some of the ruby dragon to purge the plague in gilnean....But instead we re all sent to Kul'Tiras or Zandalar and fought the rest of the war there... and why the hell is there no update on Stromgard.. i mean they could have just made it canon that Stromgard is secured by the alliance and became a new city or claimed by the horde to be a new city and have the alliance get gilnean city back instead we re sent to Nazjatar and fight against Queen Azshara so called old gods bullshit.
