@@onymus_bis Agreed, I have such a strong dislike for the word transformative because its basically the first defence of a reaction channel, a video can be 20 minutes long and their reaction video is 23 minutes long, 20 minutes to watch the video near stoney faced and occasionally smiling or laughing, 1 minute for the intro, 1 minute for the outro and 1 minute of actual discussion. Asmongold usually promotes conversation around the subject of the video and gives his views good or bad, what he thinks is right or wrong etc and gets his chat involved. Also never skipping the sponsor is a gentlemanly thief move, its so cheeky to yoink someone elses work AND skip their money maker while they're at it.

My opinion is that a sincere apology is best structured in three parts: 1. "Sorry." 2. "It was my fault" (Ideally followed by an explanation of how and why it was my 3. "Here is what I want to do to make it up to you." Ideally it's also followed by an open and honest discussion about if (and in that case, what) more can/should be done to earn forgiveness. This apology is decent as far as crise-management goes but means nothing in the grand scheme of things if Asmond doesn't actually change his ways. As far as I'm concerned, it was half-assed since he didn't give any indication in which ways he would try to do better. But in full disclosure; I haven't watched Asmond's original video, so I might have missed something.

What he said is absolutely out of pocket. He said "I don't care when people who have genocide written into sharia law get genocided" and he defined genocide as the systematic killing of a group of people and there are a few things wrong with this statement: 1) Why re-define genocide? It's a term that has a definition used by pretty much everyone. 2) if you use his definition then even America commits genocide because a group of people called death row inmates are systematically killed in certain states. 3) He showed a genuine lack of empathy to say that he didn't care that innocent Palestinians died. He should have definitely gotten banned along with Hasan.

By defining it he made much more clear what he meant by the “I don’t care… statement.” If he didn’t explain what he meant by it it would have been more out of pocket because it would be less clear what he meant. Genocide does not have a singular definition used by everyone. Why do you think there are so many arguments over whether or not a “genocide” is or was happening in Gaza? 2) You are technically correct about his definition being overbroad, however I think anyone with any amount of sense understands he means the unjustified killing, not killing under any circumstances. He could have been more clear there, but it would take unbelievable levels of uncharitability to think he didn’t include that as a caveat in his meaning. 3) He absolutely showed a lack of empathy; that was the point of his message. “If people are doing horrible, evil things, I am unsympathetic and unempathetic to their plights of the same kind. I don’t see it being immoral to not care about something. He didn’t say they SHOULD be killed, he just said he is completely absent any empathy for people who elect to live in ways he finds immoral. Much worse is Hasan laughing at cops getting shot, for example. By laughing at them, you are endorsing their suffering. If instead Hasan watched the cop getting shot clip and said “I have absolutely no empathy for this cop getting shot. These pigs kill innocent people all the time, so cry me a River.” I think that would be very close to Asmongold’s position and wouldn’t think Hasan would be out of pocket in that case either. 4) I have no problem with Asmongold getting banned, only that Hasan is allowed to promote terrorism freely on the same platform. I’m not a fan of Asmongold and think his takes are dog shit (90+% of the ones I see, at least).

DEI is a terrible agenda. Rewards should be based on merit, character, skill…. Nothing to do with race, ethnicity, religion, gender or other identities one claims which may make them the minority in a given group. These should be removed from all applications. His apology wasnt enough. He went on a 4 hour stream with hasan where he could have corrected his views but in his 20 min apology video people cant see one key fact... He didnt speak about his true views on the cleansing or Islam. Why? Because he truely feels the same about what he said, only that he went a litrle too far. Thats not an apology. Maybe he will change some day but an apology doesnt automatically give you the right to forgiveness. Its the same with real life. People can treat you horribly and apologize, should you accept it and embrace them? They messed up, so they have no right to expect you to give them any air time, if you forgive them it's because you decide to, not because they ask you to.
