That's actually a good idea. Make it to where if you have a fresh 110, ED drops the most tokens for gear. After you get past like 865, make it to where nighthold drops the most tokens for gear. ect. and they don't even have to be 910 tokens, Just like 10-20 ilvls higher than what the raid would've dropped already.

I like argus so far. It is what is is. Just a new place to do dailies but I'm always excited when there are new mounts to be gained. I do agree that it kind of sucks that the way they add catch up gear to the game makes it where you don't have to do the first released raids but hey it's good for Alts I suppose. I've become much more casual with the game and do appreciate being able to be decently geared without having to dedicate to hardcore raiding

I really liked those harder mobs with interesting mechanics on Timeless Isle. I really miss some challenging elites :( I find all those mobs in Legion really boring and pointless when you can just pull half the map pop cds and kill everything and end up with 100% HP.

They tried scaling the mobs to your ilvl to make it so you weren't able to pull every WQ mob or elites and people flipped shit and QQ'd about immersion or some bullshit, Blizz can't win with their own community

It wasn't immersion, it defeats the entire point of RPGs. If mobs get stronger as you gear up, what's the point of gearing up? Just have everyone stay level 1 with starter gear if the difficulty is going to stay the same anyway. Just having numbers automatically adjust so you always deal the same percentage of the mob's health with your abilities is a lazy way of keeping a challenge. The Timeless Isle elites had mechanics you had to follow that kept it somewhat interesting, just having everything be a damage sponge is boring.

Firaga The smokes and mirrors of Argus would not make it possible to fly from one zone to the other without breaking the illusions. I wish Hayven was still with us, may he RIP. He would definitely have made a vid about it and why flying was not implemented.

I would like to recommend to ppl riding around farming rares and chests, use Stonehide Leather Barding, so you will be immune to daze, Fighter Chow so u regenerate you hp quickly when out of combat, and if you can get your hands on it, a Greater Blessed Bandage for a 30 min buff that regen 5% of your health every 3 second. Using these 3 items made farming in Argus from being a real hassle to being a complete cakewalk for my Shadow Priest.

i feel like this Patch is really like anything in any game. it's the idea behind every game, regardless of which "patch" or "expansion" you're playing. If you take advantage of, and participate in, all the different kinds of content available, you'll have a wider variety of things to do and thus feel bored less quickly. If, on the other hand, you're the type of person that just really likes one specific thing and you're not so interested in anything else....well...i mean what can ya do? You're probably going to get bored pretty quick doing just that one thing over and over. I mean...any kind of MMO anywhere....what's the basic groundwork? You quest to level to max level. You hit max level. You now do different kinds of quest and group content. You chase after gear, achievements, rankings, titles, progression, whatever, etc. It's all the same. Branded and packaged and presented perhaps a little differently for each MMO, but ultimately, it's the same. In the end, you either like the game World of Warcraft and all it has to offer....or you don't. Nothing wrong with either thing. The first 6 days of this patch, I divided my time amongst 4 different 110 toons. I went to the old Cata raids to farm the new pets. Some i sold for an obscene amount of gold and some i kept. I went to Argus on all four and unlocked everything. I farmed leather, ore, herbs, cloth on each alt in turn, having a slightly different experience each time. I captured all the new wild pets in Argus. I battled and defeated all the Pet Battle Elites I could find. I battled and defeated all the rare and elite mobs i could find. I joined a group to kill 2000 demons and got a mount. I got new recipes for crafted gear and started working towards making those. I did a couple random battle grounds. I did my 5 timewalking dungeons on a couple toons. I did some mythic + on some other toons. I progressed a little further in Mythic ToS. I went back to my Garrison for the first time in ages to farm mats to make loads of Goblin Gliders. I dusted off my ground mounts and invested heavily in leather barding. Overall......I'm loving my time in the game. But then again, I always do. Because I do literally everything the game has to offer. This weekend, I won't play the game at all. I'll take a break and catch up with TV shows. I'll play sand volleyball with some buds tonight and have a family barbecue tomorrow. I'll clean house and do laundry and run errands. I'll come back to the game Monday fresh and eager for more. :)

The 2 biggest problems I have with Argus are firstly, that I think this time gating BS with the storyline has gotten really old very fast. When the patch drops, I want to play the entire storyline for it right away. Second, and this is minor, I want more of the portals spread out across the zones. You gotta run really far to get to either of them atm.

At least they are keeping dungeons relevant for the first time ever, so yeah. Getting 650 Veiled Argunite takes quite some time, and you can literally spam +9 dungeons which also drops 910 items, and get much much faster loot. (obv you can't pick the exact slot) My biggest complain by far about Argus, is the treasure chests, having a timer once someone loot it. After loosing 8 chests that vanished when i approached them and in 2 cases even while i was opening them, I had to log off in order not to give general chat a reason to report me...

With the Unsullied gear being a Blizzard account bound item, you can mail them to your other accounts. By the time they level up to 110, they can instantly gear up with ilvl 880 Unsullied gear.

Can confirm, my mage bought some 850 stuff from the AH with a legendary at 101, by the time he was 110 he was ready for ToS LFR, few days of doing world quests / gathering treasures on the broken shores later he was doing ToS. I did ToS HC with reasonable dps after 6 days of /played, without boosts of exp potions. WTF Blizzard.

I agree about the catch-up mechanics.. I'm a pretty casual player, but my main is ilvl 915 (and was before the patch) . Now if someone hits 110 on a fresh alt, there's no reason for them to do anything pre 7.3. Besides a mythic +10 every week. Nothing is stopping them from coming in and getting 910 gear in 12 hours /played on their fresh 110.

I don't mind not flying on Argus, it kinda makes sense storywise, we're on the Legion's world where they have ships and cannons pointing in every direction, and from a gameplay perspective, it's better to learn the layout of the land without the ability to fly and it's not like we'll be on Argus for very long, I'm better next expansion will come out next Spring.

My main argument for flying on argus is the fact that some areas are a pain in the ass to traverse. Really love aesthetic of it, but actually getting around can be a pain in the ass or getting to that one chest that you can't just figure out. i am a very causal player nowadays due to family life and I am actually glad u can buy items ilv910 from vendor. I know this makes olders tier raids obsolete but hey, not everybody can raid and most of raiders already spent hours in EN, ToV etc and they are now in Tomb and there is a new raid coming soon, so they will get a higher gear from the new raid anyway, At least people like me can gather a decent gear from vendor playing solo and not being forced to raid. For perfect gear and rolls you would go to newest raid anyway or mythic + and so I really think this is good idea that these items are 910. I understand your point of view but who would go to EN for gear anyway if the items were lets say 880. You would still buy them from vendor or would go to LFR tomb. EN is for achivs or transmogs. As far as I remember usually when the new patch comes out the older tier raid becomes obsolete and nobody goes there for items anymore

I think the only annoying thing for me about 7.3 is the map indicators for the rare/elite spawns. It's never really clear how to get to some of them without the use of WoWhead. Outside of that I believe it to be one of the better patches I've played so far.

Your argument for the gearing path is really just a nitpick. LFR Nighthold and Halls of Valor completely got rid of Emerald Nightmare outside of it can add to your legendary BLP. This just further pushes it. with the TF and legendary system, you are still enticed to running the older patch raids just not solely for gear upgrades. There's also the Balance of Power farming that forces you to go back anyways.

What made the Timeless Isle good was the good atmosphere and music it was peaceful and being there could make me relax a bit, I could just stay there doing nothing watching people fight the 4 world boss while eating something it was fun. The area wasn't annoying with endless monster in your way with mountains paths with maze it was simple and well made. The difficulty was not too hard and not too easy and the rewards were really good for casual players in general. The only bad side I could think of is there wasn't many daily quests to do (But you could farm rare all day), the isle was kinda small and on PVP server you could easily abuse and manipulate the stupid guards to kill people but hey that's just me I hate PVP. lol Argus is the complete opposite of Timeless Isle when it come to annoying area it's really annoying, but the atmosphere is good and you do feel the danger this is one thing they did well but I can already tell that my favorite will remain Timeless Isle and Argus will just become like a chore at some point. I won't stay on Argus to chill out as I did with Timeless Isle that's for sure.

🔥Here is the problem with Argus flying🔥 The issue is the stuff you can make with the materials isn't worth the time. You could potentially farm new herbs for 1 hour and make almost no profit compared to farming for Starlight Rose. That with the fast you can fly to gather starlight makes the farm not even conceivable unless your doing it for personal progression in your prof. To fix this they either need to increase the spawns of new materials so walking around you have the potential to farm a value that would match a worth while herb or decrease the cost to make the new stuff over all. Right now though a new demon bonus damage flask costs multiples of what a useful stat flask does and is a lot less effective. So if it is meant to be a cheap alternative you can use for farming then the herb drops or spawns should match it. If we fix the materials then flying won't matter but being able to fly and gather stuff of greater value on broken isles is a problem. Summary 1 increase available spawns to farm from 2 lower cost of new prof stuff to make 3 balance it to the items value (if demon damage flasks are a WQ flask then the farm and cost should match that)

I also am having a good time with this patch. I would like it if Blizzard could somehow incorporate the old currencies into new. For example exchanging nethershards for veiled argunite, it doesn't need to be on a 1-1 basis, but as it stands right now all of the nethershards collected are useless and that is demoralizing.

I really agree with the ilvl increase. Blizz has gone from making previous expansion content obsolete to previous patch content obsolete. Now we even have new patch area only crafting materials and cloth and such making "all" that you colleceted from Broken Isles "obsolete" ... Other than that I've had some fun there. Tho I came back after long break so I had so much to do in the Broken Isles as well.. can't catch up :(

Hey Asmon, I fully get what you mean when you talk about the old raid content being made redundant, and people having no reason to do EN and NH. But imo they've done well by keeping it relevant by needing to do them for the Balance Is Power questline for artifact skins. Also for druids that get one of their skins off Ursoc. Like I get what you mean, but it's still a step in the right direction compared to previous expansions.

they could increase the ilvl in EN+ToV and NH.. like EN+ToV lfr could drop 875 loot and NH 880 loot.. normal/heroic/mythic could be 5-10 ilvls higher per difficulty step. they are increasing ilvl in dungeons and WQs, to keep it relevant, i dont see why they dont do the same with raids.

Re Playing the Patch vs Playing the Expansion: Unless they allow us to upgrade old tier gear, it's gonna be pretty much impossible to keep older raids relevant in regards to gear. So, some kind of combo of Valor Points + Obliterum might do the trick. Considering how many difficulty levels each Raid has combined with the Mythic+ Dungeons, that all makes the reward structure a difficult thing to do in a way where problems won't arise. I'm not sure if there is a good solution to it, unless people suddenly stop caring about their precious iLv and Blizzard comes up with a more varied pool of different types of rewards.

1 thing I miss in legion is some sort of farmable currency like emblem of frost or valor points, would be nice if any mythic dungeon boss kill gave a small amount of them, even in mythic+, like if we can farm world content for 910 gear then why not get rewarded for doing older pve content while on the same time having to rely less on RNG. Besides that, the broken shore and world pvp (instanced pvp is not that bad), i think legion is a very solid fucking well done expansion.

Regarding loot ilvl and having people still want to play Emerald Nightmare and other raids.... all they need to do is increase the ilvl of the loot... simple! Best way to do it though... release the new raid (ie, Tomb of Sargares), then after maybe 1-2 months, "then" increase all loot ilvl from previous raids.

An idea for the Argunite catchup system could be to gate it behind an "either or" consisting of normal previous raid achievement(s) (in this case Guldan/KJ possibly both?) or rep from the new factions (maybe honored/revered not exalted). Lower geared people can then still progress through the previous raids (or the previous tier at least) to gear up ready for Argus & players that are already playing & geared/returning from a break can just go to Argus as usual but wait a little while to get some Arcano gambles (no sarcasm 100%) Not sure how well something like that would work but maybe some idea similar to that could work out as a fair middle ground. Obviously I mean in future Iterations of the system PLZ DON'T TAKE MY 910 CRYSTAL CHANCES :P

One thing I don't like about this patch is how the order hall work table is incorporated into the campaign.. I literally haven't touched that since day 1. Because it's a useless feature.. Now I apparently need to get my follower's ilvl up to 900 when I don't even have 1 at level 110.. And now i'm gonna be stuck at that part for the next week or two.

Yes it is mandatory.. Have you done 7.3? It is mandatory to finish missions which require ilvl 900 on your followers. I don't even know what that means really, but I need to do it to finish the campaign.

Asmongold, where do you find the time to do all the raid since the beginning of Legion, in one week in a casual guild ? Its impossible, the catch up mechanic make also them resell subscription. I would not come back in a game and be at 850 iLvl when other people are at 920 and dont want to play with me

i like this expa as a whole it pretty much helped me fully transition from pvp to pve and raiding mythic almost down'd mistress so idk only thing i will say that pvp has pretty much been abandoned for legion i feel till next expa and reworks

I know a lot of people dont like the idea, but i think that this would at least help with the porblem of older raids becoming irrelevant: Unlock mythic+ raid difficulty for the old raid as soon as a new raid releases. This would not only keep the raid engaging and interesting instead of facerolling through it in 30 mins, but also keep the gear that drops out of it relevant. Right now, you have to hope for mad high titanforges, otherwise the gear is (as you mentioned) irrelevant compared to the gear which you get from new content. With mythic+ Raids the gear would not only be hard to get, but also rewarding. Imagine Bloodthirsty Insticts from Ursoc or the Elisande Dps trinket dropping on a 930 itemlevel. Not because you got lucky and titanforged, but because you did challenging content which gives high rewards. Im not talking about implementing affixes like sanguine or making it timebased. Im just talking about raising the numbers such as dmg/hp etc making a fight like krosus where you had that tight dps check challenging again. As i mentioned earlier i know that alot of people might not like this idea and i know that there would be some problems with it (accessibility for casuals (nobody likes them tho) etc). Yes this would add another dificulty to raids and i dont like that fact either. Still this is the first thing that comes to my mind, everytime i see that raids are getting "outdated". They did the same thing to dungeons and look everybody walks dungeons up to this date, keeping them alive. Why? Because they give a decent award.

That's what flex was originally intended to be, where the raid would set it's difficulty and drops based on the highest ilvl member, but the only problem I see with that is that it dis-incentivizes people from doing the newest raids with appropriate progression ilvls when they can go out and farm kills they know very well, pushing the difficulty and filling out an insane gear set. I see where you're coming from and it's a good idea, it just needs some heads to come together and hash it all out I guess :)

biggest problems are the ittems,stoped to play because of the reason..why im going to the raids if in next 6 months normal drops from quest or rare mobs are better than the raid items..it just sucks btw love the game alot but those things don't let me play can't enjoy it really

Asmongold, I get where you're coming from with wanting the raids from earlier in the expansion to stay relevant with the gearing process, but at the same time, you're in a unique position where you can get any group together that you want, and you're part of a guild that raids mythic and mows down through normal modes and heroic with little difficulty. Not everyone is in the same position as you, this expansion is un-alt friendly enough as it is, if I had EN, ToV, and NH all to go through on each individual character before I could even set foot in Tomb, that's just three more hurtles to go through that makes the game less fun for me. I'm not on a server where there's a wide variety of raiding guilds, I can't just pop into the only mythic team on my server as a melee DPS when they need ranged. I don't have the luxury of being able to go through each individual tier and have someone carry me through it, and I'm sure plenty of other people are in that position as well. The requirements to join pug groups in the group finder are ridiculous enough as it is, people want 920 - 930 baseline to enter heroic ToS half of the time, and won't even invite you unless you've got AoTC. Forming your own group is usually 50/50 and requires a lot of effort to screen out the baddies, and now thanks to this patch I can slowly grind up to 910 baseline or higher thanks to the new catch up system, and get into those elitist groups who actually clear the raid each reset day.

I think the problem with premade finder trying to require 920-930 ilvl is because the slew of players who are below that ilvl are usually mentally retarded which is a shame. People even at 920+ can still be idiots and dont get me started with people from Ragnaros, quelthalas, goldrinn, etc its horrible

Asmongold, I know you love raiding and doing all those hardcore content, but Blizz doesn't want to limit other players who don't raid and I know you understand this already, but it is very important that they create casual, re-playable content that rewards gear that keeps up with raid gear in terms of ilvl. That way, the non-raiders still get to keep up with content that requires high level gear. For instance, Argus requires like 880+ gear to really be effective, and the non-raiders much like me, need a way to get that specific ilvl gear to do the content. If we had to go through raiding to get that gear, we won't play the game. Now I believe I remember you saying in a vid a long time ago that you don't think it's fair that raiders had to raid to get that gear and then out comes another patch and casuals simply had to play the patch to get that same gear level. See that's where the issue is; raiders CHOOSE to raid. Blizzard has been moving away from the concept of forcing people to raid which creates business for them first of all, because there are many who don't really care for raiding or don't have the time for it and those who simply like raiding but doesn't want to go through the hassle of joining guilds or pairing up with other people using Group Finder because let's be honest, some people are assholes to deal with. I think it's a very good idea to move away from the concept of needing to raid to require competitive gear to stay up to date with content, yes because I'm casual for the most part, but simply for those who just want to take a break from raiding. Even progression raiding is tough on some of us. At the end of the day, you hardcore players still get the best rewards through raiding and at the end of every expansion, you get the highest ilvl gear, considering quest and in-game rewards aside from raiding, has a limit to the gear level they can gather. Ilvl 910 is crap gear compared to what you get in the last raid of the expansion. I understand you don't think it's lucrative when it comes to revisiting old raid content, but I think we need to understand that if raiders choose to revisit old raid content if they're just coming into the game in 7.3 or returning, they WILL go back to that raid content because that's what they WANT to do. It doesn't spoil anything for anyone because to most raiders, experiencing the raid weighs more than the actual difficulty of the fights and that's the truth. People with your perspective love to go through the difficulty and really feel like you've earned the gear that you get, which is why I can understand your issue with this. But you don't speak for the majority man and at the end of the day, I'm glad that raiding is a choice rather than a necessity for competitive gear. Much respect man.

I'll say it cuz I know you'll read it, here is my thought about Argus: While I love having new content, People get crazy for a "whole new planet that is so awesome" while it is barely 3 zones, all gray, horrible way to move through it. Once I am exalted with these 2 reputations and have my netherlight cruxible, I will have no reason to go there. And I cannot enjoy an area's design if I can't see it (Flying in legion made me appreciate so much more the broken islands!!). Right now my alts that are neither tanks or have Pridaz won't set foot there.

I've taken an Arcane Mage and Shadow Priest through all of Argus. The terrain is faceroll easy to navigate, none of the mobs are difficult. The zones are tiny, no need for flight.

i really dont like the questing right now. you are forced that one path from quest to quest without any exploration and decision making. you get quests like " oh kill these mobs and collect these objects which are 5 feet to the left from here". killing questmobs is just boring, you need way longer to kill them but they are no challenge at all. in the past you were able to die when you pulled one mob to much and you have been rewarded for doing hard quests. I also think you should feel this progress of getting stronger with quests. but for that, there must be higher and lower level mobs. always having mobs on the same lv as u may sound good at first but is a bad idea because it completly takes away the feeling of progressing. areas u cant enter at first becaus the mobs there are 2 levels higher and later coming back and beeing able to fight through them. also i want daylis back ;)

Granted I knew the path to inside out, just before 7.3 I could get from 100 to class mount and 890+ in four days, and it only took so long because parts of the Broken Isle chain were time gated (12 WQs on Broken shore, a follower mission that took minimum 8hrs)... Now with 7.3 they made all that shorter and the gear higher. So if you got a week to spare you could be ready to crush ToS normal if you buy now lol

The only thing I like about Argus are the cinematics, it's complete ass from a gameplay perspective. Ugly jagged landscape with mobs everywhere, chests that despawn the moment you get in range, excessive amount of catch-up mechanics and on top of that it's time-gated. They could have just spawned another island near the broken shore and it wouldn't have made any difference, we're on a foreign planet and almost nothing about it looks unique or interesting just more of the same neon green on black.
