The blocking in this game, yes it's more tight than Sekiro but when you do gets it it's amazing that's how I beat the Bishop too. @@yoool7137 the sharpen mechanic is annoying but I play tested this last year for round8 apperently it is to balence since you can break the boss weapons and also incentive to have a secondary they did not wish for players to have 1 playstyle all game like in the darksouls series hence why there is no weight on costumes. They can have more room for a second weapon. When you swap the durability goes full. This is also a game ment for perfect guards you are ment to break the bosses weapon in most most cases where they are difficult. When there is nothing to break the boss is in general easier.

I’ll be honest the early game can be brutal. But once you get past a certain point and understand how combat works. It’s such a great experience. Early game is very limited with the tools you have unfortunately. But I’ve loved it for the most part.

Watching Asmon do so well against Fuoco then fumble completely against Archbishop Andreus was so funny. Like dude, you know how to parry, I saw you do it against other bosses. It's almost like the boss made him forget the basics of the game.

Not using the potions to stop status ailments was a huge mistake for the swamp monster. The game throws so many options to you for dealing with all sorts of fights. Pretty difficult to watch the Andreus fight.. it's like my brother in Christ, if you blocked once or twice and used the Legion arm, you'd have destroyed that boss. Instead he just stands in front of it doing Charged R2s over and over with the slowest weapon

It makes perfect sense that he struggled with the swamp monster. Phase 2 is essentially a reskin of the scrapped watchman which is the games first real check on whether or not you are proficient with the parry mechanics. Because he decided to play the game like bloodbourne and ignore all of the intended mechanics, he struggled the entire game. I watched his playthrough before my own attempt and was intimidated. By the time I dropped the puppet king I was certain that this game is far easier than he makes it seem

Consumables is a really broken mechanic in this game, example the fire canister instantly apply heat to the mob makes you cut through the bosses health bar real quick. The legion arm is a very good mechanic as well. its sometimes annoying to watch asmon ignore all the good mechanics that helps improve your play style, creating more combos and fun play … Asmon keeps on complaining about his slow reaction time, yet he plays a swords that needs 5 working days to swing …

Ima be honest just like asmond I forget I have the arm, and to use it. That’s understandable imo, and honestly throwables have saved my life multiple times. But honestly the party times is honestly for me the hardest thing to learn when it comes to souls like games like this one because it’s the main mechanic and it takes awhile for me to get the timing down like when a boss goes red I legit have to count how many seconds till the attack comes and I’m like okay here it comes 1,2,3 parry!!! 😂

These attack patterns are REALLY hard to get down. They aren't consistent like in From games. It's not as easy as saying, GIT GUD with this game. It's quite literally a clone on the surface, yet an entirely different approach is needed to beat this game. In Dark Souls, almost anything is a viable strategy. This game--not so much. It is so much more demanding and, imo, not in a good way. Zero poise? Check. Bs hit boxes? Check. Endless combos that are often fired off without a tell? Check. Sure, you can overcome the difficulty with skill, for sure. But you also turn off a large percentage of players who are used to punishing game play. My biggest gripe is the punishment with little reward. At least in Dark Souls and Bloodborne, there is a balance of reward vs. punishment--especially in the games since DS3. It's a good balance and entertains a wide audience while also remaining FUN. Asmon had zero fun with King of Puppets.

@@nickf2657you’re right about everything except the zero poise being an issue. i don’t think there should be poise when a boss multiple times larger than you hits you and the endless combos are only an issue with npc type bosses but i do completely agree about the patterns being way more difficult to learn in this game as they’re not intuitive at all as they heavily rely on delays, speed ups etc. after no hitting all bosses in sekiro, all ds games, elden ring, this game humbled me badly after trying the same challenge

Asmon makes the bosses look harder than it really is. I can understand playing it like a traditional souls and not going for perfect guards but not using legion, weapon skills and items is just begging for more ass whooping. it might be hard for you but actually str build, blocking is GOAT in this game since you can regain health back. Parry sometime just doesnt worth it Also the parry is kinda lol, since you can hold block and STILL CAN TAP PARRY

Surely str is viable as hell. I'm just saying Asmon is having a hard time by not utilizing other mechanics in addition to using a slow weapon. Perfect guards are relatively safer since if you mess up you just get a normal block. The weapon parries/counters are risky unless you already know what the boss does and use it at the last attack in their combo.

Just in case anybody is watching who hasn’t played this yet. Here’s a tip: The final boss of an area, will have the same timing for attack patterns as the big elite enemy of that same zone. So like in Vegnini’s, the timing of that smaller fire robot before the final boss door, dodging(or parry/deflect) its attacks will be the same timing as some of the final boss’ moves. Or like the big buff dude later, there’s the little buff punchy dude you gotta fight before. Or like king puppet has the same as I think it’s the big spinning clown dude if I remember correctly. The moves might look different but the timing, it’s giving you a taste of how to do final boss.

I’ve been running thru this game with the electric baton (puppet enemies/bosses) and the trident which has a 30% chance to crit every hit for 50% extra damage it’s amazing. And I have an acid dagger that I used for the 2nd state of the puppet king only thing he was weak to. Great guild works so well does moderate to awesome damage

People say asmon doesn’t parry but he does in this game. Though in my opinion, I don’t 100% enjoy most bosses in this game because of delayed animation attacks, (ex: Romeo’s unblockable heel kick attack).

The thing I see most people have a problem with is delayed attack in this game saying "you're only learning the bosses timers, you're not getting better" like how do you defeat Melania or the lightning king in souls 3 or the moon baby thing in bloodborn are you just so god tier to the point that you don't need to acknowledge the boss at all, no you see an animation start up and think well... Time to run, time to deflect, time to dodge. I don't get how this is any different.

you’re right for the most part but this game HEAVILY relies on delayed, suddenly sped up, paused etc etc attacks and it takes away the intuitiveness of the game and makes it more about memorization. of course you still need to react to whatever attack or variation is coming up though. for example, sekiro is a harder game to master due to its combat being more complex but you’ll have a far greater chance of being able to no damage a boss in just a few tries going in blind in sekiro than you would in lies of p.
