I know the dlc is hard but... no adapting to the game, no summon, no trying a diffrent build, no game plan, no exploration to get better/new gear and little upgrades for the blessing as the dev intended for you to do, is something of a skill issue (edit: crazy how if you remove the "no summon" part my statement is still true. Savage raids are easier by week 1 or 2 for most people, at least for the first 2 turns of every tier. the 3rd and 4th turns, depending on how stupid the mechanics are, usually done by week 3 or 4. if your in a world first group, then at least week 2 for the entire tier if you spent 15 hours a day on each turn. Ultimate Raids are the hard parts of the game, but once you learn every mechanic.... even Ultimate Raids are easy. Elden Ring punishes you for everything if you don't perfect dodge any attack.

I mean sometimes these sorts of games do get taxing. I personally love Sekiro to death. 100%'d the game then speedran it. I love it. But I can't stand the combat loop of DS3 and Elden Ring. Played both and simply did not enjoy the combat even a fraction by comparison to Sekiro. It just does not feel fun at all for me personally. So if I was in his position and constantly wiping while tinkering with a combat system that doesn't feel good, then I'd quit too. Honestly with my new character I only had +6 with 12 flasks in my haste to reach the DLC, but if he actually looked around and collected the fragments in the open world game that rewards exploration, he wouldn't even take enough damage for it to be an issue. I was fighting Midra and realized he was using fire, so I put on the fire resist talisman. He just refuses to use the games mechanics to his own advantage.

If you're one of those people who played ER when it's first came out finished it and never touched it again until DLC then you might have missed some game changing updates. They nerfed everything, like EVERYTHING. river of blood is still one of the best weapons but before they nerfed the shit out of it It was the best weapon. I didn't touch elden ring for a whole year, when I came back to play DLC I realized they fucked my builds. That's why I was struggling, so I changed my build started exploring the world instead of going straight to bosses. I was able to defeat the impaler on my 4th attempt.

this boss is easy for fast weapon users and extremelly hard for strength characters with slow weapons in comparison , compare this fight to something like slave knight Gael , fromsoftware making bosses harder by just making them never stop is not making the game any more fun , the same way having 169 repeated boss fights surely makes the game feel bigger but doesnt improve it . but to be honest this game is highly experimental just like daemon souls so they will likelly nail it next time , elden ring can be easilly improved upon on a sequel especially since they will finally have a budget to finish the next games

Seems that a lot of people, including asmon, thought that their build was endgame, not realizing that: 1. Their "super op swag boss slayer" build wouldn't mean shit in the DLC as it did in the base game 2. Being a one-trick pony isn't gonna help anyone (especially asmon's build since the damage of dual-wielding weapons were nerfed a day before the DLC) They should've just focused on collecting Scadutree Fragments to get stronger instead of trying to speedrun the game

The very first thing Elden Ring teaches you with the Tree Sentinel, is that its okay to leave a boss and come back stronger! Its absolutely wild he slammed his head against Messmer until he permanently quit, rather than just exploring to collect scadtree frags like the game clearly tells you to do!

The worst thing about this is that he only played 30 mins against Mesmer. In elden ring if you don't want to be summon carried, the two thing you can do are switching your build, or putting on talismans and defensive buffs to learn every attack and get good. Defensive tear, golden vow, black flame protection, fire protection and dragon greatshield talisman exists. Its okay to take some time away from the game, but crying about attack patterns and "no chance" to heal after 30 minutes is crazy

Well DLC difficutly is badly designed because everything is damage sponge which can kill you with minimum 2 hits while making infinite combos that turns game into waiting simulator. Without trying to defend him but even a difficult game can be "too hard" at some point Personally i am stuck at the final boss now, the second phase is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion I can go through the first phase just fine, literally having memorized every single move and can go almost hitless as long as there is not this double swipe where the boss attacks from both sides in quick succession one after the other, one will always hit me cause the dodge isnt ready quickly enough Then it goes to the second phase and it becomes insane, i rarely get the boss below half hp, everything does so much damage, the whole map literally explodes and i hardly learn anything because the boss attacks are so fast, i dont even know IF i can actually dodge some of those moves Whats most annoying is that you have to go through the first phase every time, which is hard enough as it is, only to have a CHANCE to learn something new through the second phase, it is a very slow and painful process I know there are options to make the game easier, using a summon + spirit ashes, but i just really dislike having to rely on a bullet sponge that tanks all the hits for me while i attack the boss from behind without needing to actually face it, it just doesnt feel rewarding to me The second most trouble i had was with the carnival lion, the lightning phase always got me with the random bolts, which i didnt like at all, dodging bosses on their own is already difficult but then you have to guess where random patterned aftershocks hit just makes it annoying Also the camera was horrible whenever i got close to a wall, wish they just made the camera more reliable in general, just further behind or fully ignoring walls (at least for boss fights), so you can just see better whatever the situation, quality of life if you will Messmer i felt was a lot more straightforward, i could actually see what exactly he is doing and steadily improve at dodging and hitting him more reliably

You actually don't even need most of that though I agree that you can't claim game too hard when you won't even try those things. I went into the DLC with a 175 strength build that has 60 vigor. All I use is the Guts great sword and almost never buff. I use Morgots rune and rarely use my Dungeater ash. I use lions claw, and now a better lions claw AOW and the DLC has felt no different than very late game Elden Ring. Other than the average enemy fights a little better than base game, which is nice.

It wasn't just the base game that taught him this, he did something similar in his DS1 and DS3 playthroughs. Ridiculous poise and zweihander for DS1 and cleave strats with big mace in DS3. Once he learned how these games worked he got pretty good at breaking them in half to not have to think at all. Most of these games have 1 or 2 things that are way too strong and he knows how to abuse that. It's the only reason he's gotten this far. Sometimes he has to actually learn, like against Nameless King in DS3, but I think these days he is too lazy to do that. He has gotten too spoiled with all the broken builds he has made in this game.

cause streamers have to flex about how few attempts something took. It's not impressive to beat a boss in sub 100 attempts. That just means you forced it with your build and got lucky. If you're going to learn every counter/pattern you need to do tons of attempts. Speedrunners practice bosses thousands of time to be consistent.
