Community notes is a fantastic business strategy. You don't have to pay fact checker groups. You no longer have accusation of bias or impropriety. It drives up engagement and time spent on site, as people search for things to check, then check, and fight over checks. It's genius, you get your customers addicted to the standard loop, instead of milking negative emotions through replies, you give them limited power and authority to "correct" the narrative.

I remember seeing a Snopes article fact checking whether or not a person was a terrorist. The article then proceeded to explain that despite that person having committed multiple bombings and robberies, the factual accuracy of calling her a terrorist is mixed because terrorism has multiple definitions and is subjective. That told me basically everything I needed to know about the quality of their "fact checking".

That's actually fair. Robberies have nothing to do with terrorism. Bombings may or may not be related to terrorism. Terrorism has an actual meaning. And it doesn't mean "Bad things." A terrorist is someone who commits violence against a state or its population for political reasons. I agree that fact checkers are out of control and incredibly biased. But we don't have to sacrifice our ability to think critically to call it out. Terrorism IS subjective. It's incredibly difficult to judge intentions. And to know whether someone is a terrorist we have to know their intentions. Believing someone as a terrorist because they committed a robbery is ridiculous.

It's not uncommon outside of the US and Europe for people to eat animals we consider pets. However, if you move to somewhere that DOESN't allow eating "pet animals", and there is other food available, don't eat pets.

I asked him to explain the water displacement of the metric tonnage of ocean going vessels then as that is what I believe is the cause for the rising sea levels over the last five decades. He said I had no proof, then I showed him the various sources from the insurance industry to ship manufacturing that states there has been something like a 600% increase in vessels being used internationally and how each one displaces a volume of water. He kept saying it's the ice shelfs melting even though the science says it only accounts for something like 7-10% of the sea levels rising over the same time frame.

Trump never lied about the cats and dogs in Springfield, they were being eaten, but it wasn't people's pets it was almost all strays or abandoned pets, very hard to prove, who is the stray/abandoned pet going to report to? Its owner? 🤣

@@ginacirelli1581 Well one of them could have been an abandoned pet so technically he is still correct unless we do not consider abandoned animals pets any longer, then yes he is wrong. Also lost pets could have been eaten too as they are easier to capture, heck I know Asian immigrants that have eaten a dog or two because they said it just jumped right into the car. I don't think he lied about it, although I do think he sensationalized it for support.

Asmon fan here, ( 7:20 for reference) We all watched cats on a BBQ grill go viral, (and those were 100% cats) ducks and geese getting taken and even a pigeon being caught and taken into a halal food stand the other day. This topic was covered by Asmond in a video 3 months ago called "The Cat-Eating Migrants Situation Is Crazy" So why say Trump lied about that now? Was it not a good topic for Trump to bring up.. yeah probably.. but did he lie about it? No. I saw this happen first hand after Vietnam with some migrants. The cats, dogs, wild birds any and all fish were diminished massively for the first 5 or so years because the migrants were eating them. That's not to knock them.. they survived Vietnam and made it here so they were in survival mode. I can't see how Trump lied about this.

I'll try to avoid the biblical side of the flood comment. There have been signs that a massive flood did occur sometime around the end of the last major ice age(the younger dryes if my spelling is correct) as well as the fact that there are so many flood myths does lead that something did occur.

But it's not a flood, i really wish people would stop using that word in this context. It was a gradual rise in sea level, over a period of a thousand years years, that happened as the glaciers melted. It's not something that happened over night or over days and weeks, it would have been barely perceptible during one human lifetime.

@xKinjax no quite. There is signs that a flood came on suddenly. While yes glacial melting was occurring there was something else that might have occurred. There is a range of possibilities from meteor/comet strike, sun actively, and there are the way out there ones. You can come across, such as, nibiriu.... yeah that theory exists but no hard evidence other than a guys mistranslation of ancient texts.

@@camarofan2008 There was never a massive global flood that covered the entire Earth. Those "flood myths" are the result of large local floods. To the people that lived in those areas, it probably did seem like the end of the world. Many scholars believe the Genesis flood story was inspired by the older Mesopotamian "Epic of Gilgamesh". There's too many similarities between the two stories to ignore it.

I have friends that left Facebook after they were being fact checked in their own private messages to other Facebook users when discussing things like Covid origins and vaccine hesitancy. Whatever your personal views, I don't think anyone expects that intervention will occur into your own personal messages short of maybe keywords and phrases alerting mods that suggest actual violation of local or international law.
