Hi! First of all, thank you for your content, it’s really helping me a lot with handling my anxiety) I just got my first snake, and she looks like Lola! She’s 2 years old, and just got her new home)) but she is still super stressed and doesn’t wanna be touched. I hope that sooner or later I’ll be able to handle her like you do with Lola… In this regard, I would like to hear Lola’s story, how your relationship grew and maybe some suggestions you would give to someone like me) Thank you so much❤

Thanks so much for your kind comment! Congrats on getting your first snake! Firstly, it’s normal for snakes to need a bit of time to settle, I wouldn’t recommend handling her right away. I think I left Lola to settle for about a week. The biggest thing I’d suggest is doing plenty of research into the breed and how to properly care for your snake - often snakes are stressed because something is wrong with husbandry. If she is eating, pooping and shedding properly then that’s a good sign that she’s healthy and her environment is correct. A really good KZbin channel is Snake Discovery, check it out! I had an advantage when I got Lola, because I chose her because of how friendly and tame she was. So I never really had to work with her, I got her when she was tiny and she already had an easy temperament. However, there are things you can do to help her feel more comfortable being handled! When you take her out of her vivarium, make sure you are confident picking her up - even if she strikes or darts away, don’t pull your hand back or hesitate - make sure you’re supporting the middle of her body and leave her head and tail alone. Even if she was to bite you, the feeling would be similar to rough velcro rubbing on your skin, her teeth won’t be big enough to really hurt or do much damage. If she realises that you are confident and calm, and do not pose a threat, she will get used to being handled by you. Sorry for the essay, I just wanted to be helpful, hopefully! Can you make a video of you counting down from 10-1 and when you count 1 you snap your fingers and say sleep? Do hand movements such as finger walking hand tracing
