Angel Tree Kids FAQs: 1. Yes, this process is completely anonymous. The kids/parents/guardians will never know who I was, and vice versa, as it should be. 2. No, I don't have any way to "prove" that the parents/guardians will actually give the presents to the kids. 3. Yes, there is a possibility that they'll sell the presents and keep the money for themselves...However, I can say that the facility that manages this particular Angel Tree knows the parents/guardians and children personally. They are all vetted and known to at least one employee there. These aren't just people who walked in off the street and filled out a form. 3a. (I prefer not to automatically assume the worst in any given situation, especially if it's a situation where I'll never know one way or the other how it played out.) 4. Yes, I spend significantly more per child than that required $75-100. I do what I want. 5. Yes, I suppose I could spend less per child and adopt more children off the tree. I could also just give every kid a Hershey bar and adopt them all. Maybe take some of that speculative energy and put it into helping someone in your own community instead of wasting it here. Your generosity over the past few years truly brings me to tears. I’m a social worker and I know the impact this generosity has on these families. And you’re teaching your boys to be just as generous by participating in this. Thank you Mary. You always inspire me too- I adopted 2 kids this year myself and donated to the local United Way which runs a “store” (families get an allotted amount they can spend and get to choose gifts from the “store”) for the families they sponsor.

That is so nice of you to be thinking of the 5th child. I was just talking to my husband about this very thing as I was watching Angel Tree videos today. It would definitely be waning on my mind too. We had someone post on our town FB page asking if anyone would help give 6 young kids their first ever Easter baskets b/c they were newly moved to our community as they were newly being taken care of by an older family relative after their home situation was found to be unsuitable. They had never had any holiday or birthday celebrated and the relative was barely coping with everyday costs since they had to buy everything these kids needed b/c the kids came with no clothes or toys. Anyway, lots of people agreed to help, along with me. Crunch time came and everyone vanished and I was the only one still offering help, though I really could not afford to do Easter baskets for 7 kiddos on my own (I have 21 rescue animals so I don’t have a lot of extra money sitting around!). But no way were those kids missing another holiday! So I agreed to do it! They all got a new Easter outfit, another outfit, a pair of pj’s, a plush animal, colouring books and crayons, chalk, bubbles, pinwheels, chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, tattoos and stickers and sticker books, activity books, egg decorating kits, jewelry and hair accessories for the girls, and various baby accessories for the baby. And I stuffed over 100 eggs for the egg hunt for them. I had hoped to get some more clothes and shoes but I live in a tiny town and our prices are really high for kid clothes. I know it wasn’t a lot but apparently they were really excited about it. We have a Christmas bank that offers up presents and food vouchers for families in my town and I am going to reach out and see if they have any need for volunteers b/c I am not able to give financially this year.

My baby boy was sitting on my lap after he finished his bottle and I was watching you on my tv, and when he was done he was listening to you and he started talking to you! It was soo cute on his baby's language he was having a conversation with Mary! I have to say that this is not the first time when I'm watching you he is with me he will be only 4 months old and he really likes to listen to your voice but for the first time he gave you all his attention it was soo precious! I love these videos so much! I've found a similar scheme close to me in the UK and I'm going to go and pick a tag from their tree and I can't wait. I think the idea for the 5th kid is perfect. Realistically you can't guess an age, gender, clothes size, and likes and dislikes for a child you know nothing about. The gift card and the heads up to the organisation is so thoughtful and covers all eventualities. I'm sure this whole family will have a Christmas they'll never forget 😊

My mom and I did 24 operation Christmas child boxes. I remember doing these as a kid once or twice and really wanted to do it again. It was so fun and we filled them with lots of stuff! Hi Mary, my daughter has an instant camera that takes mini pics and she loves it! Another idea that you could gift the 8 year old girl being that you’d like to add to her gifts, could be a mini photo album and some scrap book stickers to decorate the pages with. My daughter loves putting her pictures in an album and decorating the page to go along with the topic of the pictures on each page.

for the 8 year old girl, I would get her another coloring book that has the regular larger print pictures that would be easier for her to color, especially with the crayons. that would help fill some of that extra space too! and for the 13 year old I would maybe get him a pack of football cards or something just to give him something else outside of all the gaming things! these are all such great presents, I know the little girl is gonna freak out over the camera set 🥹 You’re amazing Mary ❤

You probably already contacted the charity about giving your information to the family, so this comes a bit late, but I think they won’t allow it.. You know, for security and privacy reasons. Maybe if it’s necessary, the family could contact the charity, and then they would call you and give you the 5th kid’s information? Mary, it’s just wonderful how much you’re willing to do to give these children a Christmas they won’t forget 💛 That camera is so cool and the lip glosses, I’d love those! ✨ I live in Finland, and it always puzzles me when someone outside of Europe talks about football, before I realize we’re not thinking about the same game 😂 (you know, your soccer is our football)

It's bizarre to me that anyone would consider doing that, and it's bizarre to me there isn't like, a rule that says if you take one sib you have to take the whole family? Like what if one kid gets everything and one gets none? Also, why in the name of God would you take a name off the tree and buy them nothing? People really confuse me sometimes. Except you, though!
