Gibi, I doubt you'll read this. I'm sure you're busy with other comments and private messages. This is moreso for others who may need this post. I thought about whether I should post this or not, but seeing as how it is Memorial Day, I figured its better now than any other time. I am a combat veteran, having served with the US Army for the last decade in places including Afghanistan. I found my love of ASMR simply for the general tingles and relaxation as many of you have. It wasn't until my most recent deployment to Afghanistan between 2012 and 2013 that I realized its importance. After this particular deployment, I struggled to sleep and still do, as I am faced with a certain reality that I can't quite describe. I don't want to dig too much into it, but I just want to say Gibi's videos (specifically her roleplay videos), as well as the videos of a couple other ASMRtists, are just enough to have a serious effect on me. They pull me away from the realities I used to constantly re-live and re-face every night before bed. For this, I can't thank the efforts of people like Gibi enough. Her dedication not only to the material but also to the production quality is evident, and is just enough to make a profound affect on people like me. My quality of sleep has improved notably, and in turn, I am performing better at work throughout the day. I find myself reacting less negatively, and I have a much less hostile manner towards people. Again, thank you. To my fellow veterans reading this: If you're ever in a rut, feel free to shoot me a message. We'll talk it out and work together to make sense of things.
