Oh hi friends. I feel like it's been a bit since I did an autism chat. I hope you enjoy it! I feel like I could absolutely make a part 2 on this topic lol.
Also, if you have differing opinions, please be kind in the comments! :)
As always, I'm not an expert, just a person on the internet talking about their thoughts and experiences.

I never usually leave comments but this came at the perfect time. I'm waiting on an autism assessment and have so much imposter syndrome about all of my symptoms. Today was really hard, but even just seeing an autistic person smiling and openly talking about it gives me a lot of hope for my future. Thank you Roo ❤

I worked as a JMO for a year before the stress got too much and I told admin I needed a break and some accommodations, they're supportive but they've taken like 2 months and they still haven't provided a path back to work yet. Unpaid medical leave..... yay... I openly stimmed at work BTW and another intern joked about it good naturedly but nobody else mentioned it, though that doesn't mean they didn't judge it I suppose...

We don't live in the same country and mine doesn't do presidents, but: Runkaroo for President!!! Like, not you, just you as president. That would be overwhelming and way too much for just one you. But you make the decisions, someone else does the rest of the work. We'd live in a better place. I'm trying to get the disabled person status to get access to some resources that I need to survive. My support needs are pretty high right now, I had to drop out of school because I got to the point that I'd get burnt out by October or November every year and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to hold any job. Right now, I barely manage to survive on a daily basis and the hoops I have to jump through to get this status are just too much for me. I just got rejected because -as burnt out as I have been in the past year- I just couldn't do all they asked me to do to even have a shot at being granted said status. I feel like to be granted this F-ing disabled status, I need to beat my own disability. It's so stupid! We have universal healthcare and social aid, but as a disabled person, it's hard to navigate. Especially as a late-diagnosed autistic adult woman, no-one believed me when I tried to find a way to get diagnosed. Turns out that's no longer possible for adults now. Before that, the waiting list for adult diagnosis was 16 years. I had to make do with a work around that doesn't count as an actual diagnosis but will be taken into account by some institutions. Now, I have to start all over again for my request to get the disability status and the support I need, file everything back in and manage to complete my request the way they require me to and hope they'll think I'm actually maybe disabled and give me a chance to meet their own doctor to get reviewed and hopefully evaluated as disabled enough for their standards (yup, you actually get a score of how disabled they think you are and if your sore is under a certain number, you can't get access to the status or any of the resources it can grant). The laws we have around autism are going to turn 20 yo soon and they were written by ableist af people. The woman who lead its writing was quoted to say in an interview that if you made it to adulthood without a diagnosis, then you really didn't need one except perhaps symbolically and when asked about the 2 years long waiting list for diagnosis (for kids), she said it was like waiting to months to go to your appointment with an ophthalmologist: everyone needs to wait their turn. So please, let's find a way for this ASMR video to be played to our leaders overnight while they sleep and eventually, we might end up in a somewhat livable society... fro all of us!
