Hoo boy, I hope you like rambles lol.
Happy Autism Acceptance Day!! I felt strongly that I wanted to post something for the occasion since this is my first autism acceptance day post autism diagnoses.
The original thought behind this video was to share some tips for late diagnosed autistic adults, but I'll be honest, my brain is tired lol. There was a lot more I wanted to say but autism brain go poof. But I think I got some points across?
Either way, I hope you enjoyed the bonus content on this wonderful Saturday! If you're autistic, let me know if you agree with me or give me the tips that help you! Always looking for advice to help me as a wonder through life lol. :)
PS, if you're looking for organizations to support that are actually helpful to autistic people, check out:

When in doubt, always wave and smile to a passerby. That's my autistic advice. One rule for everyone. Most of the time they smile back without any conversation necessary. It feels wonderful to have a dozen strangers smile at you every day. It's the easiest way to get instant good vibes.

Sometimes I'll give an awkward smirk and wave, but I find the interactions to be quite draining. 😅

as an autistic person, i honestly could not find ANY asmr to help me get to sleep. your voice is just so soft and gentle, and the gentle taps are amazing. it's very comforting. I'm very proud and happy to say that this is the first asmr that has ever helped me fall asleep and relax!

Middle eastern female here, i figured it out on my own bc of some tweets and then hyperfixated on the subject , as one does, and obsessively read a lot of research about autism for months.

I was also diagnoses as an adult, despite being a white guy. I am just over 40, and when I was a kid, no one in the school systems knew what autism was, and I graduated just as it was becoming common knowledge among Special Education Teachers. I was diagnosed with a learning disability, but they could never put their finger on what it was and everyone thought autism was what the guy had in Rain Man. Like you, I want to make the world a better place for us, so I am willing to support you in this mission.

I just found out that my son (2) is autistic. Thank you for sharing your story! Please don't feel stressed or afraid to share your story or express your experiences! I know that everyone who struggles with autism has a different experience, as do all people who struggle with different things in their lives, but videos like this help me as a mom to understand how I can help my baby navigate the world! Thank you, and the amazing individuals in the comments for sharing your tips, experiences, and loving words!❤️ If no one has said this to any of you, you are amazing! You are beautiful as you are! And you deserve every positive thing that this world has to offer! Keep pushing forward and trying your best! Thank you all again!❤️

I actually love that you didn’t script this because sometimes when I listen to videos on autism the terms and the fast-paced way people explain such a complex disability overstimulates me in a way. Your calm, slow explanation of it really helped me actually take the information in. So soothing 💜🫶

Oh my gosh. Instant tingles. I’m an autistic cisgender woman 37 year old but only realised it within the last few months. I’ve been watching ASMR videos for years and realise now it’s totally a form of stimming and nervous system regulation. Anyway super happy to find your channel. Thank you!

I definitely agree! It's super calming for me. I've noticed a lot of autistic people also hate ASMR! Which makes sense since it's sensory related, but it's so interesting how it affects everyone differently. ☺️

Wow, that's so freeing to hear someone who's for not forcing themselves to engage with others. I find that the less I try to engage, I'm becoming more comfortable with myself, I feel peace, and all social interactions go well. I was in elementary school when someone asked why I always had my head down. Since then, I always tried to please others who didn't even like the way I came across anyways!

I saw a wonderful person on shorts give lovely advice, if someone asks you how your day is, and you know it’s not socially acceptable to tell the truth, just say what day of the week it is. Ex: “Hi y/n! How are you today? “Oh, well it’s a Monday” or “it’s not Friday” She explained it’s a great way to avoid awkward small talk, which can be a minefield when it comes to masking in the workplace. People will respond perfectly, and you can move on without talking about how uncomfortable you are.

Thank you for this video! I’m a mother of an autistic girl and I found this very helpful. As I heard about your experience I found myself relating to so much of what you’re saying…I’m probably undiagnosed neurodivergent myself. I think it helps me truly understand my child. I don’t think she’s weird - I think she’s amazing and so cool, and so confident! I love how she marches to her own beat. I hope that her early diagnosis helps her know and understanding herself so that she can love, accept, and advocate for herself as she becomes an adult. ❤ #differentNotless

I got tested for autism during when I started high school and we found out I was. So my entire life I finally knew why I had much trouble in school with learning and I had adapted to using my own form of learning instead of the proper way and I would always lose focus a lot . And there would be things that would trigger me and there would be things I dislike a lot. But than there would also be things around me that I would like more.

8:08 As someone who is 16 and has just been diagnosed (unfortunately AMAB), I still wish I was diagnosed sooner, but my mom didn't think I could be autistic because I have a strong sense of social justice and she thought "Autistic people don't have empathy" which stuck with me for a while. dw, she has gotten a LOT better sense then (though she claims that never happened), and she finally got me tested and diagnosed. This, plus many other impactful events, have definitely made me feel "wrong" or "bad", but your videos really help me deal with those stupid 3am thought! So I just wanted to say thank you!
