I have this book and love it!!! He's a great writer, it's so easy to read. Perfect for those just getting to know the game! The section about replays is outdated but everything else holds up 😊

This is splendid! Just came across it. I would like to mention that book seems really good, but slightly outdated. Since 2008, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays dropped the Devil part from their name, now they are just the Tampa Bay Rays. Also, the Florida Marlins have been called the Miami Marlins since 2012. Lastly, since 2013, the Houston Astros have been moved from the National League's Central Division to the American League's Western Division. This gives both the American League and National League 15 teams each, and 5 teams in each division now. Keep up the superb work and thanks again!

You don't say? No, no relation, but then Mack is not my real last name either. I consider myself a novice baseball historian. Just yesterday I learned the National League was in fact going to adopt the Designated Hitter, but the Phillies owner was deep sea fishing and there were no cell phones back in '72. Had he been at the meeting, he would have voted for the DH. The Pirates were going to vote the way the Phillies voted, but since the Phillies weren't at the meeting, the Pirates abstained. There were 6 yes votes, but 7 were needed, since in 1972 the National League had only 12 teams at the time. Yes I am a font of useless baseball trivia Elle.

Ha, that is a great story! I kind of like that the pitchers have to hit, it's great fun to watch Bumgarner get a home run from time to time. So I'm glad there were no cell phones back then :). Aren't they talking once again about making a change one way or the other so both leagues would be the same?

That is correct. With the advent of inter league play and now it taking place every day, it definitely puts American League teams at a great disadvantage when playing at a National League park, far more so I dare say than when the NL visits an AL park. Sadly, inter league play to me has spoiled the uniqueness of the World Series and the All-Star Game. I'd be glad to have the National League be without the DH in exchange for getting rid of inter league play. I'm old school in some respects, I miss seeing the Brewers in the American League and it's especially difficult for me to see the Houston Astros no longer a National League squad.

my name is Linda , and yes we have blueberrys in Scotland as a child we used to pick raspberry off the bushes and my mum would make jam with them, it was yummy , we used to just pick them straight from the bush and eat them i think my mum used them for other things too , i cant remember her making blueberry pie , apple pie ohh yes that was so good also , :-) sending hugs to you Miss Elle xxxx
