The Tip is to prevent plugging. The "hollow" cavity can get plugged up with whatever it passes through and this sometimes will prevent expansion.

Hornady Critical Defense didn't cycle in my LCP max. My gun was brand new so I'm hoping once I put a couple hundred FMJ through it it will break in and cycle the Hornady. So just make sure you test a box of critical defense at the range before you depend on it for carry!

Sorry to be a nerd, but they are hollow points. They just have a polymer tip/insert in them to help with penetration while still giving good expansion when they hit the intended target. They are Hornady's FTX bullets if you're interested in looking at how they work. Good video though.

Holy Christ she finally got hollow points yes. I know its expensive but you need to make sure they work, smaller guns can especially be picky. I like to run 100 rounds, expensive I know. But worth it for peace of mind. Also run it two handed, and one handed with both hands rapid fire and slow fire. Weird stuff can happen under stress and the gun needs to work. Hornady ammo rules nice choice

I used to use Hornady Critical Defense, but after not very long the bullets would get pushed into the casings so now I carry Federal and I've never had that problem again.

Id highly recommend switching to either lehigh defense extreme defenders or ruger interceptor ARX. 380 doesn't have velocity to be consistent with hollowpoints so non-expanding ammunition thats uses grooves to cause damage through hydro dynamics are the reliable rounds
