I keep a storage bin in our basement with school supplies. At the end of the summer I let my kids “shop” in there to find as much from their school supply list as they can before we hit the store. Since it’s been packed away it feels new to them and they like “hunting” for the stuff on their lists.

And we store our writing utensils in tall mason jars with no lids. One for pens, one for colored pencils, one for regular pencils, one for skinny markers and one for fat markers. They look pretty on a shelf like that and are easy to access for homework or projects.

I've been an office supply addict for a minute. I find almost all of it at a thrift store. Apparently a lot of parents of school children donate all that stuff eventually. There are always tons of writing tools, often brand new.
