I think its sound proofing foam to reduce the noise from upstairs neighbours i suppose! the foam absorbs the sound so it's quieter (or something like that haha)

The item you used at 1:25, I would love to see in a photography segment. Whether that be a full video or just part of a video, but I loved the sound of the button and the light going on and off could be the flash, and then the screen/magnifying glass(?) could be the view finder.
