It’s not quite the same, but he’s done a couple of really hilarious videos where he’s a palaeontologist digging up dinosaur bones. To make life more complicated he’s put them plaster and he’s trying to cut it apart with rinky-dink plastic tools. He gets quite cranky at the end. It’s very funny and he talks in a very posh English voice. I think you’d really enjoy it.😊 If you search for palaeontology, ASMR digging up a Dino you’ll find them. (A Tyrannosaurus, rex and a Triceratops. ) These are from back in the day when we didn’t know when he actually swore so you can almost hear him cursing under his breath.😂

This reminds me of my dear English Teacher, who tried to get us to love Shakespeare as much as she did (and even getting us to celebrate his birthday every year). She was the one who instilled the love of teaching in me. Nicely done, Sir Teacher. The love of your subject matter clearly shines through as you impart your knowledge to us. 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for finally teaching me how to teach English grammar, better late than never! I was a horrible ESL instructor at one time because I absorbed English, instead of learning it like a new language, the way I’ve been learning French, and tentatively Japanese and Russian. It really does make one appreciate the magical-seeming osmosis of first language acquisition. Also, very soothing, comforting elocution, and accent.

Language, and how we internalize and play with it, is one of my favorite things. A decade ago I was very ill and became sporadically aphasic -- unable to think of words or even to understand what others were saying (it sounded like random phonemes with no meaning, which is really fascinating from a clinical point of view but was severely distressing at the time). Even now, if I'm put on the spot to explain even something with which I'm very familiar I am likely to experience blank spots in my vocabulary and have to run through a list of increasingly synonymous words until lighting upon what I really want to say. Brain injury, chemical or electrical interference, even lived trauma have fascinating (and sometimes terrifying) impacts on such a basic skill as communicating (that is, processing input and creating output). My digressions aside, I really enjoyed this clear and enthusiastic grammar lesson. It seems a shame to fall asleep during anything done so beautifully, but sleep, or even restfulness, can be tricky to obtain these days. And I am grateful.

heh, ‘aphasia’… I may know what you mean - every once in a while I sorta lose track of a conversation, and for a few moments everything I hear sounds layered over one another, as if all the audio stimuli i perceive is given equal importance and my brain forgets to filter out background sounds. I might have to look into this, thanks Blue Greenglue!
@jaketalbert0358 Жыл бұрын
The injury, chemical or electrical interference and trauma part I find wildly fascinating, if I had a time machine I would take all known information on PTSD and other research on neurological disorders back to the early 1900s just to see where it would be today. WWI “shell shock” caused not only neurological but even physical “injuries” even though there was no actual trauma to the body. I’d highly recommend watching those videos, they’re both wildly depressing and hauntingly fascinating

AP English was my last class sophomore year. I wont ever forget the feeling of the last day of school. Our class was on the side of the school, so one wall of the classroom was entirely filled with large rectangular windows, floor to ceiling. Teacher opened them all a crack, in which a late-spring breeze wafted through the slits and ruffled the papers on our desks. The atmosphere was comfortable and easy, and I could practically feel my classmates good moods. My seat was at the back corner of the classroom. This last day, teacher was reading a book out loud, which we all owned copies of. I remember spacing out for the majority of class and glancing out the windows. This video reminded me of that, so thanks haha~

This was a lovely, relaxing video and much needed after a day of Excel spreadsheets. You are right when you say you learn more about the English language when you learn another language. I've always gotten a chuckle from something I once read about the English language not borrowing from other languages' but following them down a dark alley, knocking them out and going through the pockets looking for loose grammar. I learned the love of grammar in my 6th grade year via the dreaded sentence diagram. Everyone seemed to hate doing them, but not me. I learned where words fit in a sentence and how they worked together. One small funny side note, I've watched this video twice now and twice I've tried to remove the little black speck on my computer screen to no avail. Anyway, thank you for this and I apologize for the late comment but busy work week in preparation for having an extended time off for the American holiday of overeating. I personally don't need a special day to be grateful, I tend to be grateful every day. If I can help one person, make one person's day a bit brighter or better, then I consider my time well spent. A challenge for everyone, when you are out and about, smile at a stranger, just one. It's a small thing on your part, but it could make all the difference to that one person. Light, Love, Happiness and, with permission, lots of hugs 🤗🤗🤗
