In an eye exam, during the the part where they shine a light in your eyes, the optometrist usually tells you to follow their finger with your eyes and this is usually just to get a better look at the rest of a persons eyes and just check for any abnormalities like scars, reddens, veins etc. plus the light is usually quite bright so you would never be asked to look directly at the flash light. 😊
