A really neat bit of nuance that you worked into the speaker's inner monologue was their parroting and then shutting down what sounds like some pretty deep societal stigma against changelings. Maybe next time the listener character gets framed the person doing the crime can also leave a handy little map to their house and a blank-cheque confession. Who would wear clear identification while doing a crime? I suppose, it doesn't seem like this society is all that interested in questioning the guilt of a changeling, so they counted on it being taken for face value.

Very astute observations! I love this series because it delves a bit deeper into what Ashwood Grove looks like as a society of magical and non-magical people. There some very deep rooted stigmas about changelings, Ripley, our tsundere changeling, does deeper into how those have impacted her life in her series, too.
