I know what you mean about not wanting to text too much before the first date however, what changed the dating app game for me was doing phone calls or even FaceTime with them BEFORE the date. It helped us establish if we are even remotely on the same page and no catfishing is going on. Some I even had 3 phone calls with first. If you truly connect well, trust me you would NEVER run out of things to talk about in dates. It saved me so much time and heartbreak. I would marry my current BF from bumble in a heartbeat 💓

Very interesting story: I was on a date with a girl from an app. Movie and dinner. Normal. Fine experience. I paid everything. We spoke before we went to the restaurant. She told me upfront she didn't feel I was financially "secure" enough. But I was a sweetheart, etc. I didn't show it right away, but I was CRUSHED, hard! Before ordering dinner I had to use the restroom. For a little while I pondered, hating myself thinking, is this all I'm worth? I come out of the restroom, & she sees me & her expression goes pale. I didn't think it was that noticeable. How upset I felt. She kept asking what's going? What's wrong. Til my walls crumble down & I tell her upfront, "I can't do this anymore." We skip dinner, & decide to walk & talk at this park. And, I just let go. I cried, alot. In front of her. And I absolutely opened up as honestly as I could. About past failed dates & how alone I felt. After all that even though I felt stupid, even though I was hurting like hell, she kissed me. And tells me, this is ALL I've been waiting to find. Near 9 months later, & our relationship continues to grow. It's odd. It's different how we got together. But sometimes just being your genuine wholesome self is all a partner wants ❤

Came for the Scripture reading of Job ❤‍🔥(I am sure we can all identify with Job in some fashion or another...albeit less awful, hopefully) Left with some fun dating stories. lol Also, I went on a Christian dating app 3 years ago (during the Holidays) and 1 year ago (also during the Holidays... 🤔pattern? 😒) Anyway, I ended up with a couple of long distance friends. Not bad. But not what I was there for. I counseled one through a relationship she ended up with locally (in her home state of Texas... I am in California), and another I stayed in touch with until she got engaged to a cool guy she met locally. At this point, I am convinced that the old fashioned way, as difficult as it is these days because no one has to leave their home anymore, is the best. I will never date someone that I don't already love...as in actual love, not the tingly feely love. That comes later. Anyway, that's my two cents. I am happily single for now, and I love it. I am also convinced that one should find contentment in whatsoever state they find themselves...well, also because Paul wrote that to some ancient church. Only then can we bring that contentment into the life of someone who has also found contentment... Ok. That was my third cent. Sorry✌

Phew no plans for the date so I ended up navigate to a place I thought would be decent, got criticised for liking sweet wine & not beer (his father owned some distillery) he took 5 min examining my nails because he didn’t believe they were mine, quote “I don’t get why girls like putting on all these fake stuff like that long nails” Got back home knowing I was never doing that again just to see a text telling me he had a great time & when could we do it again. I said sir leave me alone the date was horrible 😂 I received 2 request after that for more dates & even to this day he is waiting & watching for his chance. The dating scene can be comical fr 🤣

Most of my first dates don't even happen because the guys end up ghosting me. But I have three of note. First one was my very first date after 9 years of a horribly abusive marriage and a couple of years being divorced and after talking for months we finally met up. Apparently he didn't like the look on my face when I saw him. But in my defense he also was not honest about how he looked. And every picture he sent me was just his face. He said I had a look of disgust as I looked him up and down. I didn't. He flirted with everybody but me and before I got home I got the let's just be friends text. Which actually we did end up being friends for years. We aren't anymore when he decided that he should run my life. The second one was after talking for a couple of weeks we met for dinner the day after Christmas and I thought we'd had a fantastic time. Even texted a friend when he went to the bathroom telling her what a good time I was having and how cute he was and how well I thought it was going and then at the end of dinner while our waiter stood at our table he stood up and very loudly so everybody could hear and they all turned to look he said to me I'm not a vain man but I know what I like and this is as far as this is going to go. But hey if you ever need anybody to talk to or to kill some bugs for you let me know. He was in pest control. I think he did that to tell everybody that we weren't together. I have a facial deformity and it was just absolutely humiliating and I ran out in tears. Didn't even say anything to him. The third one I ended up getting roofied. After dinner which he was already eating by the time I arrived to the restaurant he suggested we go to a park by the river and by the time we got there I was throwing up everything was spinning. Thankfully I had my wits about me to text my son who realized something wasn't right and he came and got me and by the time I got home I was hallucinating. If he hadn't come to get me I don't know what would have happened that night.
