“Screen ready” is exactly the issue I have had for years. I’ve said, “it reads like tv” but I prefer your expression. Deborah Levy’s Swimming Home has haunted me for the last couple of years. I love her.

Can I just say you’re so so good at ASMR. I usually don’t care for ASMR because it makes me uncomfortable but your Interaction of Color video came across my feed and I watched it and got the ASMR feelies that I’ve seen other people talk about. It straight up cured my insomnia and anxiety so thank you so much

Hello Mauve! It’s always a pleasure to watch a new video of you talking about books you’ve read. These days, I’m completely obsessed with the Scandinavian literature, especially from Iceland & Norway: it’s so intense! Thanks for soothing us! 💛🙏🏻

Can you give some recommendations- that sounds so interesting!
@alexiszorba69

@@badboyblondiestar Yes, with pleasure! I could suggest you four books by three Norwegian authors: "The Sixteen Trees of the Somme" by Lars Mytting (a contemporary author born in 1968; it is one of my favorite recent readings); "The Seed" and "The Birds" by Tarjei Vesaas (1897-1970) and, last but not least, "Ida Elisabeth" by Sigrid Undset (1882-1949): she won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928 and the way she portrays the thoughts and feelings of her characters is very strong. I think that could be a good start. Tarjei Vesaas is certainly the one I like the most: I already read seven novels by him in April (his books are not long). I wish you beautiful readings! PS. Concerning Icelandic literature, I recommend you the wonderful novels by Jón Kalman Stefánsson.

I loved Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow so much. A very raw and compelling story and I also loved the ways it played on storytelling structure. I’m behind on my reading this year but so far I’ve really loved Mother of Strangers, Never Let Me Go, and Babel.

I’ve been putting off reading this and wasn’t sure if I ever would because I don’t like video games and I’m always a little cautious of TikTok books but this review sold me on it. I’m going to add it to my TBR for real now

Transit of Venus- Shirley Hazzard. I read this because I read a review quote Hazzard saying the book rewards a careful reader. She was right. The writing is gorgeous. The insights are subtle and perfect. I underlined half this book. Loved.

Adding these to my TBR list! Have you read ever read any Augusten Burroughs? Most famous for his memoirs Running with Scissors (about his traumatic childhood) and Dry (about his alcoholism and stint in rehab). I just finished his newest memoir Toil and Trouble, which is about his current chapter of life in rural Connecticut, and also his life as a witch! I've been a long time fan and had no idea he was a witch haha. I really enjoyed it.

I picked up “War and Peace”!! But I’m scared to read it, it’s a huge commitment 😂I read “normal people” by Sally Rooney, which I liked a lot. Finished “Trust” by Hernan Diaz which was excellent. Currently reading a fantastic book called “All the Birds in the Sky”. Highly recommended. It’s quirky and funny and entertaining. Thanks for these recs.

Hello, I read "War and Peace" when I was a teenager and it’s an unforgettable memory! I completely understand you feel a little afraid to start such a book, but I encourage you to try: it’s really worth it. Of course, there are lot of characters, but when you will begin to be quite familiar with the story I'm sure you will love it. I wish you beautiful readings!

i had my screen off ready to doze off but my eyes snapped open when you mentioned tarot for change, i love jessica dore! i would recommend the art of logic by eugenia cheng, i love how she links logic With emotion, as opposed to separating it as debatebro ideas often do. and it changed my thoughts on math a little! usually im so apprehensive with life tactic books because it seems so... shark tank startup to me, as a normal person. but i really enjoyed this one.

Im currently reading Flights by Olga T (lol i’m sorry i can’t make a guess at her last name but the writer of drive your plow over the bones of the dead) and Minor Detail by Adania Shibli (SUCH an important book, this is a reread) Also!
