I don't know if I entirely agree that this otherwise very skilled hairdresser is accustomed to working with naturally curly/textured hair. I mean, there's a whole lot of damage infliction. The sound of the rubber bands made me cringe...so much breakage from that one action! Just because one has naturally curly hair, it doesn''t mean that that hair is strong/ resilient so upping the heat means frying her hair (more breakage). I would have gone for a deep conditioning steam, a semi-permanent transparent gloss, a good trim, and a no-heat twisted style. It would be gorgeous!

I thought the end style looked so good on you. She would have had an easier time straightening your hair well if she had blown it out first. She also wouldn't have had to do so many passes with the flat iron. I was surprised when she just started flat ironing it. Enjoyed watching your video as always ♥

I have super thick curly hair and the moment she would of wanted to straighten it I would have said no Absolutely not if the stylist isn't educated on curly hair I'm not going plus no heat protection please find someone who can style your natural hair not the hair it's the stylist your going too she said of blow dried it first if we don't teach them how to do our hair textures they won't learn

2:50 Some people panic over seeing steam thinking their hair is being burnt/badly damaged and think it is smoke, but it just means there is product in your hair. If you use heat protectant as you should, it will also do this. Do not be alarmed :) She also did not use a high heat on her hair- it is easy to tell by the final texture of the hair after being straightened…. It isn’t straight straight like a higher temp would straighten it with one pass.

Really so much easier if she blowed it out dry first rather than trying to flat iron dry curly hair. Wtf. You do the big blowout with the brush and the hairdryer and then you smooth it out with the iron. Sigh. No wonder she had to braid and basically shellac it to cover up the fact that there was NO WAY she was going to get that sh*t straight just using a flat iron.

Styling for curly hair means styling the hair curly. This is just straightening curly hair to an unattractive ponytail. Like let’s be forreal. She straightened it then slaps gel and hairspray on it. She could’ve left it curly For that matter. The gel would’ve smoothed it out just the same. Not to mention I didn’t see any heat protectant at all especially when she fried your ends. I’m sure she does a great job with straight hair and she should stick to that.

I am naturally curly and loving it. Of course, I respect everyone’s idea of what suits them! That being said, my heart was breaking watching this. She has a gorgeous natural hair. Enjoying different hairstyles occasionally is one thing. But this was a nightmare - from the process to the final look. The lady is naturally pretty and my words are absolutely not intended to offend her. It’s the hair that needs a pro who knows how to deal with curls. Styling curly hair doesn’t immediately mean straightening it. And even if it does, then there are ways to do it without destroying it and with hell lot of more finesse and imagination.

Great ASMR, but it literally pained me to see the stylist flatiron the client's hair damp with no heat protection and with so many passes of the iron per section. You could definitely see the damage - The client's hair looked very rough and stiff plus the comb encountered resistance towards the ends of the client's hair when combed. The stylist could've left the client's hair damp and simply applied gel to get the final style and completely avoided flatironing. My hair is much curlier than hers and gel and hairspray alone would have worked for me to get that style.

@toraasmr97 You should probably get a good bond repair treatment and then a deep moisture conditioning. Going forward, don't let anyone flatiron your hair damp or without a heat protectant with protection up to at least 450°.
