Something my great grandmother used to make for the holidays, mostly Thanksgiving, was a delicious baked macaroni and cheese. Since her passing, my mom has taken up the task of preparing the holiday mac and cheese but it’s not the same without my great grandma there.

My great grandma died in 2017 at the age of 103, unfortunately she already had dementia so she could not cook. But she still remembered her recepies and now my grandma prepares them in holidays.

My inlaws are Italian and every year for Christmas they make huge and very yummy meatballs! They also make bread patties. They are a recipe passed down from the great depression when they couldn't get access to meat, they would make a meatless "meatball" called a bread pattie. It's bread, seasonings, egg and parmesan.

In the western part of Sweden where i'm from. We have a desert dish we eat around the holidays called äggost, translated into eggcheese. It's basically just milk and cream and eggs that you put some sour cream into and slow cook it until the milk curdles, after a while you pour off the watery part of the milk and put the milkcurdles into a special pan. in the old times you'd eat the desert with pickled herring. But as the times got wiser so did we and now it's eaten with jam or jelly. It sounds really weird but it's really tasty!
