I’m honestly hesitant to make a KZbin channel specifically for the reasons you mention. I’ve been warned how rude and mean people can be in comments. Especially for someone who deals with insecurities. You handle it well and are able to joke about it which is admirable.

Don't let it stop you. Usually you won't get any in the beginning while you're really small and as you grow, you will get a thicker skin to handle the comments.

Oh my gosh, Nicole, this video totally made my day 😂 You are sooo funny. And I will tell you, I laughed so hard when you talked about what your father in law said. I've had people say things like that to me a lot too, and it is no fun at the time. But the way you put things cracks me up. I love watching your videos. They definitely cheer me up 🙌

9:37 I think the reason a lot of people find that insults stick with them more than complinents is because it goes against what they believe or are told. If you're told often that you're beautiful, then suddenly someone is saying the opposite, it would understandably make you feel like crap. On the other end, if you're used to insults, a compliment would probably be more memorable than most insults at that point. I'm not a psychologist or anything lol, just thought it was an interesting point!

When it comes to WingStop I love to get boneless Hawaiian, BBQ, and/or lemon pepper 🍗 And you just can’t go wrong with their Cajun fries 🍟😋 Your videos are always so comforting and relatable thank you! Edit: Btw about the compliment/insult thing, it’s the same when the tables are turned. If you’re constantly dissed all the time, you’re usually shocked when you get compliments so it just depends on the person and context I think 😭

I think that our different response for negative and positive are drastically different because our ego have a lot to do with it. When people give us the positive feedback it's like a reassurance for us. The negative feedback we take as more of an attack on our character (if it isn't an outright threat) , so we get hung up on the "WHY" because of our ego. Instead of just treating it like we do positive. Just how I see things lol.

By the way, my kind brilliant darling husband of 48 yrs passed from Parkinson’s and dementia a yr ago. It is heartbreaking the way it changes their personality. I totally agree about the compliment and insults. I think it's because how we are raised in our sociaty. We learn humility and modesty is more important. And also not to be egoistic. We don't learn that we come first. If we take care of ourselfs first then we are able to take care of others. So criticism and humiliation are being heard more then compliments. It is not modest to see your good sides first. You have to do better, be better...bla,bla,bla.

A lot of ppl dont know what ASMR is....no one i know here in SAN FRAN( one of the most progressive cities in the US) has any idea what it is, Im constantly explaining it. Im guessing many of these people are looking for true crime and then dont understand the ASMR aspect so they get why your whispering about crime. One thing about the positive/negative reinforcement is that I think (for some of us, a lot of us even) we spend so much of our existence trying to do everything right and be good and all that, that positive comments are a sort of "Yeah, you're managing to maintain status quo/what is expected/etc," so you're like "Okay, good, my efforts are working, good to know, thanks," or whatever, and then one person is like "Oh, you suck in [whatever area]," and you think, "Oh no, I'm failing! And... well, shit, maybe these other people were just being nice?" For some reason it's a lot easier to believe bad things than good things, in my experience. Even when we take a stance of "don't worry about what other people think, just be yourself, etc.," there's still that element of "This person took time out of their day to specifically make me feel like shit," and it's just... yeah. It makes it that much harder to be buoyed by the positive feedback. In fact, one of the reasons I donate to people's Patreon, is NOT to gain access to more content or whatever (much of which I never get the chance to enjoy, depending on my schedule or whatever else), but to offer a tangible proof that someone is doing something good and worthwhile. I'm saying, "Hey, I like you so much I'm more than happy to give you some of the money I earned to prove it." No idea if Patreon owners ever see it that way, but that's part of my reason for support, is to literally encourage them to keep at it. [/end_of_speech]

The "fell out the window" comment is funny, I hate to admit. All the best for ill people, but in a way their way of interacting with people is so absurd that you have to laugh about it. When I was a young teen, my mother's partner had lung cancer that spread to his brain and pushed on certain parts that impacted behavior, and as his condition worsened, his comments got more off the beaten path. It was a challenge to excuse him and understand that he really wasn't on the same page as the rest of us anymore, but we still love him and have some enduring respect.

@@MyASMRAddiction not Churches chicken lol. Popeyes chicken strips. Lol. We do have a Churches chicken and they are good . KFC is too greasy and flat on the crispy part, Bojangles has really good chicken but Popeyes crispy chicken strips made me think of the chicken strips you are eating.

Hello! Trans person here. You are 100% entitled to being upset when someone asks you that. When people ask "are you trans" it is VERY rarely in good intention. Nobody wants to "look trans" since that has an awful connotation around it, most trans people either aim to be androgynous or cis-passing.

Thanks for your comment. I’m glad to hear I didn’t say something offensive. Have a relaxing night. 😊

Regarding your topic. I think that anytime you hear an insult it's going to cut deep because people have insecurities and they dwell on them. Especially if a friend or someone who you care about says something demeaning or derogatory it's just going to be exponential. Now when you hear a compliment, you're not sure of the intention of the giver. Meaning that you can never really be sure how much they really mean it, or if they were just saying it to make you feel good. Compliments are given by sales people and by family members and friends who sometimes just want to be nice. You may say something complimentary in passing. Not really with any deep intention. But if someone takes the time and energy to say something that is negative or insulting, you know that there was intention behind it unless they are just being spirited.

Regarding KZbin content and comments. That's another beast and mainly trolls just want attention. They know by saying something negative to you that you're going to give that some attention. If not by replying then by blocking them. Which in itself is a form of attention. They are those mean spirited few. It is sad when contact creators allow those small-minded and ignorant, mean and angry people to affect them. Although I know it can be difficult to ignore. 🫶
