this reminds me of a zelda book i have, its basically explaining all of the games and how they play out. its pretty great, i got it in a book fair in sixth grade

I think this was a manga that got "Americanized"

ASMR Retro This was serialized in Nintendo Power, written and drawn by Shotaro Ishinomori, who was one of the all time greats of manga even though his work is virtually unknown in the West. So as far as I know it wasn’t published in Japan before making it into NP (but don’t hold me to that), making it, technically, an American comic since it was originally published, in English, for the American market. Really, the term “manga” is mostly a marketing tool, emphasizing the medium’s uniqueness from American comics, but when it comes to things like this-do we call it manga because it was written by a Japanese man, or an American comic because it was made for the American market?-the term ceases to be useful and trying to define one from another is a fools errand that falls into pedantry. So I just call them all comics. This is the hill I will die on
