Technically they are in my opinion the rounds bigger, an ak is automatic, the barrels can withstand 200,000+ rounds, they are more reliable, only thing ar has on aks is accuracy and weight but aks are much better built and are one of the most reliable machine guns u can buy

Such as more customization options/aftermarket support(you can make your AR a sniper, pcc and even a shotgun with the right parts) , easier to store ammo because 5.56 is smaller, 5.56 being a more common round if you live in a western country, Ars are cheaper, 5.56 is cheaper, further effective range, less recoil, more velocity. Why do you think modern developed militaries use the AR over an AK? Even the Russian spetznas OMON unit used MK18's and tried to replicate the AR with the AK-12 being chambered in 5.56 and the 5.45round being invented. Russia would be using AR's if it wasn't for political conflict.
