I mean, you do get used to it and your mind just erases your humanity but still. And death isn't even an escape, the fungus feeds on your remains. I don't dare to imagine how horrible the pain would feel if you were to become a Bloater...

@@jae4684 Ellie was 14 during TLOU 1, and the plot takes place 20 years after the initial breakout (Start of the game), so yes, Ellie would have been born 6 years after the first infected admission spikes. It's Possible Anna would have been required by the governement to work on researching and curing infecteds for the 6 years (she might have joined the Fireflies in that time window, altough I'm not sure about that), and she would have been infected during pregnancy and staff would have had to force a birth before the baby was affected (Which obviously only half-worked).

I am reminded of those first 20 or so minutes of The Last of Us. Everything is so normal that you briefly forget that it's a game about the zombie apocalypse. It tricks you just long enough to lull you into that false sense of security until all hell breaks lose and the game decides that it's gonna give you a good, solid wack of the emotional sledgehammer. Same here. Everything is fine. Just another patient having some ailment, stuff that happens on the daily in a hospital. It's normal and there's nothing to worry about, until there is.

Anna Williams... Ellie's mother was called Anna in a letter Marlene wrote in the first game. Ellie's last name is also Williams (Miller when Joel sort of takes on a father role) but yeah, I wonder if that was intentional or coincidence. Great video. Honestly I think this is sad, (us) and other patients she mentioned in the beginning, getting this infection, and is spreading fast and wanting going to the doctors to see if they can prescribe you something to help subside this infection. I can just imagine (us) being scared and worried, hoping something can help take this infection away. But there’s nothing that can be done. And this was (our) last moments as a human.

Even in the beginning you can tell she doesn’t like what she’s seeing. It already isn’t good but she hides it completely and gives the patient a lot of reassurance so they don’t worry. Then after when it really starts getting bad (i.e blood coming out of our eyes…) she starts talking less because there’s nothing really good to say…. What amazing acting, it just looks really natural To be honest, it looks so natural that it’s making me kinda scared rn. I’ve never watched the series or heard anything about it, ive only heard about the cordyceps infection in insects and the premise of the show is that it’s infecting humans. But don’t worry, it is relaxing (especially the measuring tape part, wowow), but in terms of believability this is crazy good Edit after watching the whole thing: these medical exams are hellaaaa relaxing and the cordyceps sounds would be so bomb in any other roleplay, but im incredibly unsettled right now 😂 i really hve to go watch the show now, this video has convinced me!

All while hearing a tune that sends shivers down your spine.

IF you like "The Last of Us" I highly recommend - if you haven't seen it already - the movie, "The Girl with all the Gifts." It's similar with fungal based zombies, female protagonist who's in a sort of symbiotic relationship with the fungus. Also, it's based on a book (Which I haven't had the pleasure of reading yet).

It's always crazy to me how accurately some physicians - especially neurologists - can often check a variety of superficially random symptoms and then say "Okay, we might not know what the problem is yet, but we know where it is." Cordyceps is real but thankfully can't infect people. Some cultures even eat it and use it in medicine
