Man my beard is so hard, its hurts so much when i do it against the grain, any advice? I use close comb safety razor

Yes, don't, just do a two pass shave with the grain and the next across. But if you really have to do it against, do it after a shower for the hair to be softer and preferably in the morning when the skin is still relaxed. 34c was my choice when I got back into DE shaving. For me, okay, but I have better razors.

@@Double-Y some of my favorite razors are Gillette Techs. Mild, yes, but I get smooth, close shaves with them.
