Lemme tell you, I’m already fully OBSESSED, the sounds are just magical. There are a few in Crush that sound like you’re hearing a dog bark or someone shouting as you’re driving past really fast in a car… I mean, I struggle to even describe it, but maybe you know what I’m talking about? She’s so talented at walking the line between ‘I’ve never heard anything like this in my life’ and cozily (& often eerily) familiar! Just brilliant, I’m so excited to dive deeper. love this, Remme! my favorite Ethel Cain song is “ptolemaea”. I honestly can’t find the proper words to describe it, but I highly recommend giving it a listen, reading the lyrics, and looking into its meaning. it’s definitely a bit of a… different… sound, but I absolutely love it. happy spring! 🪴🦋

Thanks for the video Remme! It was so relaxing to listen to Very happy you enjoyed the song, Ethel's discography is incredible and it's hard to pick a favourite. If you liked Sun Bleached Flies I think the rest of her debut album Preacher's Daughter might be to your tastes as well :) It's an amazing concept album exploring a lot of hard hitting themes.

I was so blown away that I demanded my bf listen to it ASAP-he’s a deconstructing PK himself, and I thought it would really resonate for him too. We don’t always agree on music, and he also immediately loved Sun Bleached Flies. Just such a spot-on rec, tysm again!! Love ALL these bands! - Aberdeen !!! (though In One Ear is a close 2nd…) - Wake Me up When September Ends - so hard to choose, but Buddy Holly will always have a special effect on me bc it was on a mixtape my nanny made and is one of the first songs I remember ever hearing! - My bf plays Dreams when he wants to pull me out of a funk, but Zombie is my #1 bc it was also on said mixtape! I know they’re very popular picks, but any time any one of those songs plays my brain lights up like crazy, all of them must live deep in my amygdala haha

Yay, enjoy!! And for some added fun, check out its IMDb trivia section if you haven’t already! The level of research that went into the animation-especially all the costumes, paintings, and little Romanov artifacts-is incredible. Even the dog is a reference to her brother’s real-life one. Plus, there are so many fun cameos of contemporary historical figures during ‘Paris Holds the Key (To Your Heart)’! This movie was truly made with so much love. ❤️

Love it! Would love to know what Hozier song you came across and moved by its lyrics. (Imho, many/most of his songs are bops when you listen not closely, and then I look up the and I'm like 😮 that's actual poetry wtf haha. The first song of his that did that for me was Shrike, but I could rattle off 10 tbh. Take me to church is great and if you want to hear perhaps the best version of it that I've found, I rec going to Spotify and finding his acoustic Spotify session in London--the album is 4 songs and that acoustic version of take me to church is incredible.)

The one to which I was referring is Talk! It’s incredible and has made me realize how much I’ve been sleeping on him, like, I ofc could always tell he’s extremely talented but never got around to listening beyond his radio hits. He's got so many songs that I feel like I need to study like poetry in order to understand the meaning(s), as well as look up all the references, such that I'm often rediscovering music of his that I've listen to for years.
