Hi everyone! I have some lovely cards to show you today, sent to me by two wonderful subscribers. Firstly we have some postcards (timestamp 02:11) and then some antique 'mystery' cards (timestamp 26:57) - I need some help with these. Does anybody know what they are or when and why they were made? It looks like you have an old vintage set of a card game called Star Authors which originated in the US in the 1860s. The set you have look like the 1877 version from Mcloughlin Brothers publishers in New York! Looking at the video I suspect the aim of the game is to collect a set of 4 cards as I noticed (in numerical order) each set of 4 have the same author's names printed on them. In the original game each player is dealt 4 cards with the rest upside-down in the centre, each person asks a player for an author or if no one has it picks up from the pile. The person with the most sets wins

One of those typical November mornings? Oh I know how those are. I love the early evenings, but I absolutely hate late mornings, when it's still dark at 8 in the morning. I've always been like that. It's a terrible feeling when you're off to school or college or whatever, you're incredibly knackered, and the cold darkness of the outside world does no favours for you...

The mystery cards seem to be part of (what I know in Dutch as) “kwartet”! I believe in English it’s similar to Go Fish (or Quartets)? The aim is to gather sets of 4 cards that belong together, that’s why the other names of that set are at the bottom of each card I believe. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartets_(card_game)
