Wikipedia has a picture of a postcard from 1925 showing the temporary Waterloo Bridge, which says it carries southbound traffic (not the system the map describes). If they had moved to a one way system based on time of day, that would suggest the map was produced after the decision to replace the bridge was made, but before the new one opened. That puts it somewhere in the mid to late 30's, or perhaps up to 1942 when the bridge opened.

Love this especially as its a map of London and knowing that you can't park any where in London now and its way to much traffic in London as well

Another superb ASMR and one with great meaning for me as I lived on Vauxhall Bridge Road as a student in the early 1990's.

So cool, I used to live between Petty France and Birdcage Walk in Wellington Barracks when I was serving with Welsh Guards💂♂️ historic London is incredible. War Office is just referred to now as MoD Whitehall and Horse Guards

There are fewer car parks in Muswell Hill now! 😅 Nice find. Wish I could visit London when there were all the old cars, before the congestion, driving around without worrying about the congestion charge and the zones.

This video is ace! Personally I’d love to see an underground tube line video using the TfL paper maps! I can pick one up and send one if needed!☺️
@LibraryofWhispersASMR3 жыл бұрын
That's a great suggestion actually. I'll see if I can find an old tube map somewhere - or am very happy for anything you pick up yourself!

Sir Stenson Cooke lived from 1874-1942. He has to do with the automobile Association so that may help narrow do the year range a few years. So I assume the book is somewhere in there. Neat! (I'm writing this only several minutes into the video so it may be said later but I'm sure I'll be too lazy to edit my comment)

I think it must be late 1930s, early 1940s because of the addition of the War Office.

Unbelievible that someone survived only with a map like this in a city back in the days. Today everyone needs a navi and cell phone to not get lost. 😃

We stayed just off the left of this map in 2019, and we definitely used Google Maps constantly to figure out which tube stations to use, where to walk, etc.
