What's funny is that, given 2 Voltorbs in the deck, the odds are slightly in our favor with a 55% chance of winning. Gambler card even bumps it a bit, we just got rather unlucky. The Voltorb Flip book would say bet 10% of your current chips each time. I'd take caution, though, as our "sketchy" dealer might push back on our chances. Great video

@@dedxz2475If the Voltorbs are never in the same row or column there would be a 50% chance since 2 columns and 2 rows would have a voltorb and 2 columns and 2 rows would not. However 2 voltorb cards could be in the same row or column. There are 16 cards on the table. Each row and column has 4 cards. So 1 voltorb takes up 8 cards. That means there is a 50% chance 2 voltorbs could end up in the same row or column. Since there is a 50 percent chance voltorbs are in the same row or column, 50 percent of the time they aren’t. When they are, 5/8 choices lead to a win since depending on if the voltorbs are in a column/row 3/4 columns/rows are free. And 2/4 of the opposite are available. This gives us 62.5% So we know that when voltorbs are in the same column/row we have a 62.5% of winning. When they are not we have a 50% chance of winning. If we had those we get 112.5%. We also know that 50% voltorbs are in the same row/column and 50% of the time they are not. So we divide 112.5 by 2 to get 56.2% The chance of winning is 56.2%

​@@dedxz2475 Easiest is to calculate the percentage of not getting a voltorb for each card in a given row/column. We'll simplify by replacing gambler card with an energy. Flip over the first card, you have a 14/16 chance of getting an energy, since there are 14 energy and 16 total cards. Once you flip over the second card, you've already used up an energy from the options without replacement, so there are 13 energies to choose from 15 cards, giving the second card a 13/15 chance of being an energy. This pattern repeats for flipping the third and fourth cards, giving them 12/14 and 11/13 odds of being an energy respectively. To win a round of Voltorb Flip, all four cards must be energies, so you multiply the probabilities. Plug 14/16 * 13/15 * 12/14 * 11/13 into a calculator and you get 0.55, or 55%. Hope that helps.

The chances of the Voltorbs sharing a line is 6/15 because there are 6 cards in line with a Voltorb and 15 cards that the other Voltorb could be in. Consequently there is a 9/15 chance the Voltobs do not share a line. If the Voltorbs share a line there is a 5/8 chance of winning. If no Voltorbs share a row the is a 1/2 chance of winning. The odds of winning multiplied with each situation gives the percentage of games won on average. (1/2×9/15)+(5/8×6/15)=.55 There is a formula for how much you should bet based on how much you win and how likely you are to win. The bet is the percentage of your current money. It is as follows: Bet = Odds of winning - odds of losing/proportion of bet gained In this case it becomes: Bet = .55 - .45/1 = .1 I hope I did a good job of explaining it

12/16 = Energy 1/16 = Gambler 3/16 = Orb Calculate the odds of probability for draws without replacement equals n/x * n-1/x-1… where n equals the number of cards that do not end in a game ending state and x equals the total number of cards that can be drawn. 13/16 * 12/15 * 11/14 * 10/13 = ~39% chance of paying hand (roughly a house edge of 11%) Assuming the secondary bet for the gambler cannot be placed on the same row / column the gambler was found on or on a row / column that was already revealed, the probabilities of a second paying hand depend on how early the gambler was revealed. Basically both n and x will start subtracted by however many reveals it took to find the Gambler. Situation 1: Gambler was the first card revealed (what we saw in the video) 12/15 * 11/14 * 10/13 * 9/12 = 36% chance of paying hand Situation 2: Gambler was the second card revealed 11/14 * 10/13 * 9/12 * 8/11 = 32% chance of paying hand Gambler situations only get worse from here with less than a third of a shot of getting paid. TL;DR: The Gambler side bet always has bad odds (about a little over a third at the best of times), never take it. Otherwise, this game has some pretty bad odds with almost 5 times the house edge you’d stomach at a Blackjack table.

With a 2:1 payout it's tilted toward the guest only if there are at least 14 winning cards out of 16 (55%), when there are 13 out of 16 it's incredibly slanted towards the house with 39% odds (the 2:1 bets at a roulette table are 47%), and everything less is a shameless ripoff. A casino could make a killing out of the innumerate patrons if it made an emphasis on how many winning cards there are in the deck, despite the math.
