When I was a kid I didn't grow up with the gen 1 games, my favourite games were heartgold and soulsilver! I remember finding Articuno randomly exploring near seafoam island and from there I actually loved its design, definitely my favourite from the original generation 1!

Alakazam and Scyther were my standouts as a kid. As I’ve gotten older, Gengar has slowly became my fav in gen 1. Favorite gen 1 Pokemon has to be Blastoise. He's been my Ol' Reliable since the beginning & I've always thought he had an incredible design. There are plenty of other gen 1 Pokemon I love, including Star mie, Aerodactyl, Jolteon, Dragonair, & Clefable. But, my first starter still takes the crown. Funny story: as Pokemania swept the United States, I was only four (I turned five later that summer). In my very first soccer league, the coaches wanted the kids' teams to have trendy names, and as such all of the teams were named after Pokémon. My team ended up being the Blastoises! It's yet another detail that helped cement the big guy as my favorite starter & Gen 1 'mon.
