Mate, as an Australian.. I have to say .. your "I'm a Aussie Copper from the Outback " accent is pretty damn good, In fact, you would of passed with flying colours if you auditioned for any of the Australian 80's cop shows we had back in the day! HAHAHA! But seriously, not many folk can nail it - and you did a pretty damn fine job if I may say so ^_^

Definitely one of the best attempts I’ve heard at an Aussie accent. Feels very outback, like I’m here for sheep-related crimes. And the cordial bit really struck home for me, as someone who can’t stand plain water! Great job, from someone down in the forgotten part of Australia (Tasmania) 🐨

Australia is so big that the accents change, just like anywhere else in the world. As someone born and bred in Brisbane, Jim's accent is broader like you'd hear out in the outback or down south (regional Victoria). Some slight variances like saying "chance" with the British ch-ar-nce is very Melbourne, I think. I also notice that Queenslanders (especially up north near Cairns) say "important" with clear t sounds. Around Melbourne say "impor-dent" with the lazy t sound. The lifted "a" sounds on the ends of words like "over" (pronounced "ova") is perfect. Us Aussies tend to be lazy with our vowels. I say Australia like A-stray-a. 😂

This is a better Aussie accent than most professional British or North American actors can muster, congrats Jim! I had a good chuckle at Braithwaite though hahaha. Also I know nobody asked but I used to work for the police in both my state and federally and I've never heard anyone use the DI/PC abbreviations, I think that's just a British thing. So if you ever return to this character/do another Aussie cop for some reason they say their ranks in full.
@kaiser-ix3tn3 жыл бұрын
I noticed the DI/PC thing at the start too and you're right, pretty sure it's just a Pommie thing. I know here in Queensland, detectives go with their police rank i.e. Senior Sergeant and just add 'Detective' before it, end result being for example Detective Senior Sergeant Braithwaite. I could be wrong 🤷 , great roleplay tho, best Aussie accent in ASMR beside real Aussies! Cheers
@ausomeaspie3 жыл бұрын
This is so nice, and pretty accurate. (As someone who has given a statement to the Police, different crime but still) Accept I hope DI Braithwaite actually arrests the perp and not let him off through lack of evidence! The UK justice system leaves somewhat to be desired.

Ah Jim, your Aussie accent and mannerisms were so familiar to me, an Aussie girl, that my tingles for the ' exotic ' went missing in action. Have you been here in Oz? Stanley is just like my uncle Ron, a decent, good bloke Aussie detective cop. They're not all good blokes though of course.....so some being a few flies in his ointment. I grew up travelling and living all around Australia and know that people usually have a mix of the slight differences in Aussie accents due to many transferring to different states and territories, usually for work. Stanley's slow old Queensland drawl would have me pick him as a banana bender easily. (QLD state known for banana production). I'm a sandgroper from Western Australia myself. The state known for the mildest accent and bloody sand everywhere and into everything. I guess we just mildly plough on through our day while casually dealing with this expected, everpresent mess. You can tell newbies to this state by their frantic car and house cleaning cyclonic dust up frenzies. They soon learn. Excellent work Jim. Also you might be interested that some of my ancestors were a Welsh farming family from Carmarthen and came with the first fleet of settlers to help set up the Swan River Colony in Western Australia. The Llewellyn-Jones family. By their letters and family word of mouth history it certainly wasn't what they were expecting ! Hardship, starvation, abandonment, after being deposited, by the British government, along with other Brit settlers. Then saved and educated, by the local Aboriginal people, in their language and survival skills and spiritual lore. Tragically, these saviours were later massacred by British troops, of various national Brit origins, employed to push for more land as the years went by and the growing population brought more monied up land seekers. We are now pushing to deal with the recognition of past injustices toward, and reconciliation with, the first nation Aboriginal people, by way of admitting and bringing such injustices to light through various media and events. Also , I hope it will come to light , that good people among the invaders, who objected to these murders and other crimes, were overrun and silenced by those with authority and their actions to defend were buried from sight of public record. Jim I really appreciate how your asmr site contains within it the whole mash up of the human condition, of character traits,, history and just and unjust circumstances and the tangle of whys and hows, using both fact and fantasy parallels to reality. All moving toward a better understanding of humanity and humanness. You really are a solid contributor to moving us all forward and upward. Feel free to blush sweetie....I mean it.
