I used to read The Hobbit to my baby while I was pregnant so that she’d recognise my voice once she was born. Felt kinda silly doing it but it worked a treat; she knew me straight away and The Hobbit has had a very special place in my heart ever since ❤

Yup, copyright issues with books. You are only legally allowed to use a small % section. Many older books will be out of copyright and in the public domain. Which is usually 70 years after an author's death, depending on the country. Tolkein isn't due to become public domain until 2044.

Lord of the Rings and Tolkien are probably what influenced me the most in my entire life. I always felt a connection when I read the books as a teenager, but also more recently I had an horrible experience with cancer and I felt even more connected with the topics of the story and the messages of Tolkien. First, because initially I couldn't accept the diagnosis. I always had an healthy life and couldn't stand the idea this was happening to me. Then I thought about what Gandalf said to Frodo during the 'I wish the ring never found me', and I totally embraced Gandalf's reply. We gotta deal with the cards we are given, nobody wants bad things to happen to them! Also, fortunately I defeated the cancer but I will always live with the fear of relapse. Kind of like the "marks" that the ring and the experience left inside Frodo.

Really enjoyed this reading! Felt so nostalgic from childhood being read the Hobbit and being so excited and loved looking at the map in the book and loving the old Hobbit animated movie too. I know reading books full isn't possible but I do always love how well you read out loud, rather its reading descriptions, instructions, or amazing stories like this one.

They really split that tiny book into three movies. Poor Peter Jackson he tried his hardest to adapt it even tho he didn’t want to.

It was so disheartening. However watching all of the behind the scenes footage, as I did with The Lord of the Rings way back when. You can see the care and passion he put in to it. But he jist couldn't catch lightning twice. The Lord of the Rings is the best film trilogy of all time. And will probably never be supplanted. It came at the end of the gold era of film, late 80s through to the early 2000s.

Dude, I don’t ever comment on videos, but I have to on this one. This absolutely should become a reoccurring thing….. I know you can’t read the entirety of certain books due to copyright. But, even the portion you can read makes awesome content!!! Idk if Hatchet by Gary Paulson is public domain, but that would be a cool read…. Bring it back to my grade school days lmao.
