I had a lipoma on the back of my shoulder. It started as a very small lump, almost looked like it was the muscle. I ignored it for a number of years until it was so large I was self conscious about going swimming. Finally decided to get it taken care of and ended up with a 3 inch scar. Get it taken care of now.

@@ASMRspring Madi, the good thing about it is they are not dangerous, and quite common. It's possible it won't get any larger but if you have it taken care of now, all they would have to do is make a small incision and just squeeze the fatty tissue out. You wouldn't even notice the tiny scar after awhile. Because I waited so long and let it get SO big , I was left with a deep, ghastly 3 or 4 inch Frankenstein scar. But even that has faded and healed up to the point it is difficult to see. You're making the right decision by addressing it now.

healthcare worker here!😊 Lipoma is the correct term it seems from what you’re describing. Lipomas are a benign lump of fat cells and they’re fairly common (thought to have a genetic basis, so they may run in your family) and don’t necessarily need any treatment or removal unless you want it removed bc it’s in the way/uncomfortable. Only if there was anything suspicious/abnormal appearing abt the lump would they possibly take a sample of it to get tested!
